I've owned two VW Beetles in the past
There's a guy down the road from me that has a model train set that runs throughout the house. He also doesn't let anyone mess with his trains. Keeps saying, "THIS IS NOT A TOY!" H aha. There’s a guy down the road from me who collects toy cars done so for years, got a room dedicated to them all displayed in units , got hundreds of them lovely to look at , but won’t anyone touch though not even his kids or wife.
I've noticed an obvious difference in quality between some of the older toy cars and at some point in the 70's it seems like they improved. The older ones had wobbly wheels, felt lighter in hand, and seemed to have less detail on the inside of them. Does anyone know when that year they changed them was? Was it in the 60's or 70's?
The cars in this bin are generally from Corgi, which are the larger more detailed ones, and Lesney, a British brand. There is a big spectrum of detail and quality across the board although they are almost all metal.I've noticed an obvious difference in quality between some of the older toy cars and at some point in the 70's it seems like they improved. Nice pickup Scott, it is definitely in the 'style' of these older toys.As a child growing up in Chicago in the 60's our family had one car which was usually with my dad at work. On occasion my mom would take us kids downtown on the bus similar to this bus in the pic.

I've always enjoyed riding on the bus and I still do. When my wife and I were in Paris in 2018, I insisted on taking the bus to the Eiffel Tower. Being the awesome wife that she is, she went along for the ride with no complaints.
Today, this tinplate toy bus made by KOVAP in the Czech Republic arrived on my doorstep.

Wiki: The Deutsche Bundesbahn or DB (German Federal Railway) was formed as the state railway of the newly established Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) on 7 September 1949 as a successor of the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG). The DB remained the state railway of West Germany until after German reunification, when it was merged with the former East German Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) to form Deutsche Bahn AG, which came into existence on 1 January 1994.
One of my favorites as well, although I am predisposed to favoring wagons.Love that Citroen wagon! (and the D-Type)
Here is another example for you cosmic. The blue wagon is Lesney, the yellow is Husky. The sizes of them are essentially the same, but there are differences.obvious difference in quality
