This might save sellers some time--a message to those selling tins on TinBids:
they recently changed their shipping levels.
What works for me now is If I'm selling 5 tins (both C&D style and flat tins) the best option is to use a square 8X8X8 box. The 8-inch square box is the largest under the "small" pricing. Try it, you'll see it works well. And it means you can list with the small box shipping price on a 5-tin lot.
Hope this helps.

Just checked out Tinbids for the first time. One auction is for eight bags of Esoterica, and the bidding is up to $2010 with nine days left. But if you think about it, that's about $23 an ounce, which is not bad really if you're really into that. But then there's an eight ounce bag of Penzance for $900. $112.50 per ounce. To each his own I guess...I think I'll stick with Pipestud for selling, always had great results with him.

Thanks, I can’t believe I didn’t try that before!
Late to the party, but a note about the Tin Bids search function. Their search does not show all the tins up for auction. I never seem to find my auctions using their search function. Even right after I list them.

Are you sorting the auctions as “latest added” or “ending soon”
Those features help you find your auction easier.
Or you can type in the name of what you listed it as.
I believe Tinbids shows all active auctions

I find it strange that everyone clamors for the CD special releases but on Tinbids no one is ever bidding on Eight State Burley, Steamworks, and From Beyond. I don't understand this, anyone know what is going on there. It's also nice to see the Sutliff flippers getting no love. They will eventually win, but I'm loving the resolve of the greater community. Fist bump
people have been spending time trying to figure out what is going to be highly valuable and what isn't since sometimes around the invention of coins.

A lot of listings I've seen with 1 suspiciously high bid and then sitting... If that's not a classic way to fish for an over-priced bid then I don't know what is.

I've tried bidding on Tinbids a few times. I can't get the hang of their auction mechanism. You can only advance a certain number of bids, you're top bidder as the clock counts down to 00:00, and then you find out (after the clock ends) that you lost.

Exactly HOW one wins a Tinbids auction is something that eludes me.
I’ve gone through this string and can’t seem to find an answer to you question. I am having the very same problem. Yesterday I lost to an “automatic bid.” What the heck is that? Wondering if you’ve learned anything more since posting your question.

I've learned nothing since. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to ask, as I sat next to the Tinbids booth at the Chicago show for quite some time and even conversed with the owner at length in the showroom and the tent

I have never once been to tinbids, nor does how someone else spends their money bother me in the least.
My advice is that if how people spend their own damn money bothers you, just don't go to tinbids. End of problem.
Feel the same it ain't my money so who cares, however I do find the auctions on week old small batch blends almost as entertaining as a bad episode of Storage Wars so I like to watch and laugh at those.
