Holy Shitballs, I think I have to make another order at Estervals for @woodsroad seeing the generosity among the brethern over here and my meager contribution to that. All joking aside, I think this community is so great with bombing each other for christmas. So not only thank you Dan (as said before), but also all the awesome participants, its truly heartwarming. I'll be sure to prepare myself better to nuclear blast another mailbox next year with a bigger present!

Gents - I caved (I am about to have a busy next couple of weeks). And I was excited and to see what SS had in store and opened my box!

I received a tin of Gawith Hoggarth Rum Flake and Old Dark Fired Plug Cut! I have not tried the Rum Flake and the last time I smoked ODF it was the regular flake over 3 years ago (one of my first tobaccos due to the forum raging about it). To top it off, a Punch Clasico and a lighter!

Thanks SS - much appreciated! Will definitely be lighting these up on my travels the next couple of weeks.

As my Uncle Gene used to say when he was verklemt, "Jesus Christ and General Jackson"!

After finally making it back home the other day I opened the SS box that had arrived in my absence. Yes, I know I should have waited until Christmas, but why should I be any more restrained than everyone else on this thread? Besides patience has never been my long suit. If you don't believe me ask my wife; my kids; my neighbors; my friends; their neighbors; my colleagues; their neighbors; posters on this forum; and random people on the street.

This is what I found inside the box:

Secret Santa stuff.jpg

I know the angle is oblique, so here's the roll call of amazing loot:

-a cigar container, just the right size for an afternoon and evening away from home, complete with two cigars to start me off:
-a Rocky Patel Connecticut cigar
-a Perdomo Reserve Champagne Sun Grown
-a tin of C&D's famous Carolina Red Flake
-a very generous helping of McClelland's CC 2014
-another very generous helping of SG's FVF
-yet another very generous helping of McClelland's Blackwoods Flake
-a tin of McClelland's classic 2010 Anniversary blend
-two packets of BJ Long Pipe Cleaners (it's important to never run out; and after all, what boy doesn't like a BJ Long?)
-and to top it all off a very nice note from my Secret Santa, CigarSmker

This is hitting the jackpot with a vengeance. CigarSmker thank you very much for the incredible Secret Santa presents. I'm a huge McClelland fan so every one of these is very welcome indeed, as is the Carolina Red Flake (which I've wanted to try for several years), the FVF (always a top favorite of mine), and the two cigars. I enjoy the occasional cigar and the two you selected have the added bonus of being completely new to me.

Very best,
Jon

Whoops. I see in the rush of my enthusiasm I forgot to thank Dan for undertaking the enormous labor involved in making this happen every year. Thanks Dan, I appreciate it.

I hope this isn't tactless to mention, given your age and obvious infirmity, but have you begun to train a successor? I assume this is a hereditary obligation/honor, something like being the Steward of Gondor. Have all the little woodsroads been indoctrinated indentured groomed initiated into the secret traditions associated with the forum's annual SS gala event?

I heard Dan has three apprentices!

They light his cigars now, but he will work them into full duties as he becomes more infirm☺️

I inherited the job because I showed a bit too much enthusiasm while this shitshow was under different management.

So, the room should take heed and perhaps reconsider how and where they waste their precious idle hours.
