Look at the data that I linked to. Samuel Gawith Co. no longer exists. It is gone. Fin. Extinct. Everything with the SG moniker is made by Gawith Hoggarth. Look at the Board of Directors. The Sg people resigned and dissolved the company.
But does that necessarily mean that their production process isn't still in operation by people experienced at making SG blends?

These are the people who resigned from SG in the last few years:
Robert William Gregory

Secretary • British

– 1 Jan 2010 – 1 Apr 2016

Mr George Percy Thornhill

Director • British • England • Born in Oct 1973

Company Director 8 Feb 2012 – 31 Oct 2016

Robert William Gregory

Director • British • United Kingdom • Born in Oct 1946

None 8 Feb 2012 – 1 Apr 2016

Mr Andrew Robert Thornhill

Director • British • England • Born in Aug 1943

So Robert W Gregory, and the two Thornhill's and the other female thornhill is still the active director?

In the absence of reliable information, the answer is "we don't know"
Furthermore, the US Copyright for Samuel Gawith was abandoned on May 20, 2014.

The official release states:
After months of deliberation and negotiation I am pleased to advise that the House of Samuel Gawith and Gawith Hoggarth will merge on March 18th.
The men and machinery of SG will move to the larger and more adequate factory of GH. The men will be the same as will the machinery. The brand will be made in exactly the same way as it has been since 1792 with no change to blend, water or branding

No one will be repackaging Sutliff Virginia Slices under the guise of Full Virginia Flake anytime soon!

And Samuel Gawith is made by Samuel Gawith "exactly the same way as it has been since 1792"
When SG was formed in 1792, the original lines were of snuff.
SG introduced tobaccos to the market sometime about 1830 – 1840, nobody is sure about the actual date. 1792 was an original but was marketed as a plug, which was a popular way of using pipe tobacco then. It was introduced as Cob. We changed the name of the flake to 1792 in about 2000, the plug still bears the name “Cob”.
Full Virginia and SQL was introduced in about 1925, so they are youngsters so to speak.

I am reviving this thread because (a) I found it very amusing, if somewhat tiring and confusing, to read, and (b) my last two tins of cabbies mixture have clearly been tainted by the malodorous lakelands scent. All my other SG tins are pre-merger, but I would ask folks to weigh in with any more recent observations. Have you noticed any tainting or other differences in other SG blends of late?

You piqued my interest so I opened a SG FVF tin that I just got while in Prague this Summer. Indeed, there's some soapiness and a rare whiff of florals. My Cabbie's Mixture had a lot more though. I'll try, later on, some SG FVF Plug in another pipe.

Cosmic, yes, the so-called "lakelands flavourings" include several "natural" substances, and would I understand include tonquin bean for sure. However, I think when pipesmokers refer to lakelands scents in casual conversation what they are common referring to is really rose geranium (ie the infamous grannie perfume/soap smell).
Aside from the prospect of a lakelands taint, I have also had a few pipesmokers tell me that they have noticed changes in the strength and cut of a few of the blends and also that the tins (or at least some of them) may be more lightly packed than they were pre-merger. One friend told me he opened a fresh tin and weighed the tobacco and there was only 37g in the tin.
