Tea And Pipes

I have an account at Adagio.com but I've never really shopped around or compared prices. This thread will change that. I'm no expert but their tea seems to be of good quality and taste. One of my favorites, Brigadoon, only available on leap day every 4 years and I bought a pound in Feb.

Others favorites are Irish Breakfast, Yunnan Gold, and Earl Grey. I keep a few decaf on hand for that late night itch.

Actually it is a very nice green tea but that did not stop Australian customs from grilling me whenever it was found in my luggage by over zealous officials (now they have shifted focus to tobacco View attachment 50041

If you like that Iron Goddess of Mercy is a great tea too. It's similar but different enough from imperial gunpowder. Both are tightly rolled but processed a little differently. And is so named because it has a metalic sheen like Iron and it's from a region of China associated with the Goddess of Mercy. So more like Iron from the Godess of Mercy but that's too big for a label I guess. .

that's one of my regulars. Though I kind of hate that it's the only loose leaf tea they sell at the grocery store.

Since I am from Azerbaijan and we have a famous region for growing tea (also tobacco) I enjoy their black tea with my pipes 90% of the time. The region is situated in south of the country and famous for its tea, tobacco, citrus fruits, rice, etc.

Azerbaijan also has one of my new favorite F1 races. The GP at Baku is one of the highlights of the season for me. ?
Hopefully there will be a real F1 season next year.

I drink all kinds of tea: black, green, white and yellow. Only loose leaf tea for me. No milk or sugar allowed in my tea or coffee.

I like it on its own like coffee. Never drink them while smoking my pipe, only water.

Tobacco, tea and coffee are the holy trinity of flavors for me. I love them all. These are my treats.

hey I drink my tea and coffee the same way. And almost never smoke my pipe with either. If I have to get up really early to wait for something I'll break my rule and drink my morning wake up potion while smoking a pipe. But I feel the same way about drinking tea or coffee with a pipe as I do about ménage a trios. For others it increases the joy but not for me. It just means two things I enjoy doing are getting a fraction of my attention where as there is more pleasure to me for one at a time. Or as I tell people when they offer "coffee and a pipe" (what I'll call it from now on ) I always compare it too watching two good movies at the same time on two separate screens, it's just going to take away the enjoyment of each movie through split attention. Now watching one movie finishing it and letting it go to bed then watching the next movie is great.

I think it was Twinings Earl grey tea, I do remember her saying that the twinings tea they sold here was not the same and so she would send it to us when she went back to England.

I'd also like to add a big thanks to all the folks who've listed reputable tea brands I'd never heard of before. I've already got a tin of Fortnum and Mason Christmas Spiced Tea, and Taylor's of Harrogate Irish Breakfast on my "to buy" list.

I just had PS LBF with Ceylon Tea from the Lovers Leap region and I like it very much. From what I read, tobacco and tea have a lot in common as leafs so it's not surprising that they work well together. I'll certainly renew this especially this week with the nice weather we have in Quebec.

I purchase mostly from Mark T. Wendell of Boston. Always black, and usually one of: Hu Kwa (light, Formosan Lapsang), Lapsang Souchong, Scottish Breakfast, Cheericup Ceylon and Russian Caravan. I also like Yorkshire, Taylor and Twinnings.
Scottish Breakfast or Russian Caravan is my usual tea with Virginias, VaPers and such.
I also like Luzianne for iced tea, heavy on the lemon.

I usually drink Indian/Ceylon black tea but I also like Japanese Sen Cha.

You won’t be sorry. Great place for tea from all over the British Isles. I’m partial to tea from Belfast: strong and malty. They also have Scottish teas that are blended for soft water! I use reverse osmosis water here in AZ as our tap water is very hard. Water matters when it comes to good tea.

Water does indeed make a big difference. Learned quickly that our tap water here is the pits for good tea. So, I use bottled water for it.

Sorry, I don’t agree. Just like wine with food, the palate needs cleansing occasionall.

I say try it at least once just so you can say you have and who knows some people seem to think it's the best.

Lankaran tea. It takes longer than a regular black tea to brew it. You may check about our tea culture here, and tea growing here.

And when is Formula 1 coming to Baku?

Hopefully in 2021, we had to postpone it this year due to the pandemic. When are you coming to Baku? ?

BTW tea drinkers. Most British teabags are classified as "catering size" and are larger than American tea bags. One will do a small teapot and with 5 minute steep will give a robust flavor.

Is that because, in America you don't or wouldn't have it as strong?
In a small tea pot I'd put at least two but more like three bags in. I'm interested to see the size of the bags used over there now ?

Can't speak for any but me, but I like it quite strong. (And I have lived in GB)

I’m a big fan of oolong, especially imperial Pearl oolong from a website called mountain tea. That goes great with the right smoke.
