smoking pipes has some of the best pipes you can find, don't get me wrong. I spend a lot per year like all of us do. What pissed me off last year. I bought a Dunhill Unique lighter, love them for indoors. I received the lighter, and due to the manufacturing defect, they didn't finish the silverwork on one side, and the shape edge cut my hand.. no BS. I was pissed, to say the least. so angry, I threw it in the garbage. Smokingpipes replies. "we are not able to evaluate every item sent to us" which replies to me" a basically sorry, too bad. I would not give a s**t, from now on if i can find what I want. I will buy from other retailers. I love they fixed Ashton, but I get a FU. Tip...Buy Dunhill next time
I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with this Dunhill lighter. It is true that we cannot (nor does any retailer) physically inspect every item that we sell. We do inspect each pipe as they're very different products from things like lighters, tampers, pipe cleaners, or even kitchen gadgets, shoes... you get the point. Many of the non-pipe items we offer are packaged from the manufacturer and we do our best to leave them in their original packaging unless a customer specifically asks that we check them for whatever reason, in which case we carefully re-package them.

That Dunhill lighter was covered by the manufacturer's warranty and could have been replaced or returned, but there's not much we can do once it's been thrown away.

If you're ever interested in replacing it, we'd be happy to physically check any lighter before shipping, though this is the first time I've ever heard of something like this happening. It's certainly not a common issue.

I might have missed it, but just in case, I wanted to clarify how the VIP stuff works.

VIP status is based on calendar year. So, if a customer hit Silver status in June of 2019, they would immediately receive the benefits and would have remained a Silver customer for all of 2020. If that same customer didn't order anything in 2020, then they would lose their status at the beginning of 2021 (or they could move down to Bronze if they qualified for that level). It's very similar to most Frequent Flyer programs.

As far as what the VIP stuff gets you, there's discounts on specific brands, entire categories, and often special promotions...

So if you bought something from any other store and there was a defect, you would just throw it out and then go to the store without the product and expect them to do something about it?

Switch the rolls around and put yourself in their position. What would you do if you were the retailer? Just give them a replacement with no proof? Sorry, it doesn't work that way. The customer is not always right.

Here is how it works. If there is a defect, the retailer needs the item so that they can return it to the manufacturer so that they can be reimbursed for reimbursing the customer with another item. That way the customer and retailer are protected by manufacturers defects.

Also, If you didn't do your due diligence to properly rectify the situation, please do not post negative/derogatory posts about a retailer/vendor. And before anyone says anything, this goes for all retailers, not just site sponsors.

Nope. Clown. I didn't ask for anything. No refund, no return. You want me to post the email? I have money and don't need any freebies. My suggestion was for smoking pipes to inspect what they are selling, Instead of churning out products to sell without inspection to customers. Nope, If you selling a product, YOU need to inspect it- The customer is always right, I never mentioned anything of the sort. simpleton attitude. nice play, Bravo. You don't want negative posts? Nice threat. I have purchased from them many times and never had a problem, but now you get a negative response and you want to ply the old cancel/censor culture, bravo
