I have been controlling my PAD and focusing on my TAD just in case. You can never have to much of either but tobacco can disappear so I've been trying to stock up myself.

The size and composition of a cellar is a personal affair. It's

really about your comfort zone and expectations about what you want

to get out of Pipe smoking. What started the process for me, was the

sage advise... [/i]If you want to smoke aged tobaccos, then start feeding

the cellar today. Like most pursuits, it requires time and perseverance.

If you want to participate in trading for rare smoke, then you must have

something to trade with. If you enjoy looking at a large cellar, then you

must build one. The true value of tobacco is learned when you run out and

have little means to get more.

You guys are making me feel weak. I only have 2oz of Indian Summer and 1oz of the "name that blend". I'm trying not to buy any more until I run out but I know that TAD will hit soon since I am running so low.

You guys are off to a great start! Building a cellar takes time since

we all must live within a budget... The desire to build a cellar puts

you ahead of most of the Pipe smokers around, who never give it a

thought. Every Pipe smoker that I've encountered that has a cellar going

started with a few tins and/or jars of blends they enjoyed. The results

of a poll I started not long ago showed that the majority of cellars are

between 10-20 lbs, and that most had the desire to cellar more. If you

make a plan and stick to it, then the cellar will grow.

@brando71: awesome, man, just awesome. I love this thread, thanks for reviving it.
@wolfscout: I see you use the same squat wide mouth mason jars that I do. For those of us who don't cellar pounds at a time. I find they hold about 50-100g just fine.

Brando, that's beyond impressive. It's downright amazing!

How many years did it take you to stock that fabulous cellar?

And please give my regards to Wendy. She looks pretty comfy. What's her favorite blend?

I have two dogs, both mutts from the local pet rescue organization, and sometimes when I'm smoking my pipe they'll fall asleep at my feet.

I don't buy huge bulks of tobacco at a time cause I'm an infrequent puffer.

But now that the wife is joining in my puffing together.. I'll have to be getting more.. so who knows.
