I have a question. I have my dads old Sasieni 58 . It’s a patent pipe. The patent number is on it. It has absolutely no dots. Just an F. I would assume that’s for the fantail. I am not versed at all on Sasieni. Is this pipe a second? The only thing I know about it he liked it a lot. And he said his pipe was hard to come by. I don’t know if that is true or not. I thought about restoring it.

Can you put up a picture of, or a description of, the nomenclature?

The pipe is marked with Patent No. 170067. I’m at work I just happened to have that search patent saved. Their is a F on the stem. I know it’s so caked up you probably can’t drop a bb in there.lol

I bet it has a funky shaped stem.
They were a series called Fantails, family era. Later in the era but still family era.

I really wanted to restore my dads. I know it was his favorite pipe. I started to, but quickly realized it was just to far gone. Found the bowl was cracked bad, the stem was chewed almost flat. It was beyond my skill level. So I went on a hunt . Months went by and finally I was able to locate one. It was in alright condition, and the price was right. It’s exactly like my dads. I got it Saturday. I have been slowly working the last few days. I’m smoking it now. I was in contact with Mike Hall. He helped me locate it. He is a big Sasieni collector. He said this pipe dates from 53 to 57. 53 is the patent date on pipe. 57 is when they took patents off pipes. Hope that info will help someone else in the future. I still would like to do more . There was a bunch of tooth chatter I was able to get most of it but there is one tooth mark I just can’t get. I will have to fill and blend. I did my best with white out for the F. I need more practice.7FEE8849-FA8D-4E2A-848C-C0CF03EA29C3.jpeg6CBB8825-4619-4C69-AF7D-E4059621A95E.jpeg707EDC76-A90F-4E7C-9F91-3AE27076D75C.jpeg4900B9C0-6E13-4AEC-AECC-444325349804.jpegE449D46C-B96F-47AE-A062-195A82EAB08B.jpeg94580ADE-07B9-4370-9962-D63E3AC44058.jpeg33FA9CB5-6614-454C-90FC-A3E90BDB164E.jpegE23B40DD-DA3B-4B48-AAD0-B36D5AFF3733.jpegECC8DE9B-1154-45C1-AF9B-5BDE808279D5.jpeg70990B88-031D-4746-8854-7D2994B6D06C.jpeg

Very nice!
They are earlier than I had thought. Always learning, that is what makes this so much fun!
Enjoy that beautiful pipe!

Thanks after I posted Friday it all fell into place . Perfect timing I guess. These pipes were seconds. I can see some small fills. Good mouth feel but Smoked wet to me. Not sure if I like it.

Is the vulcanite different on their pipes? I really like my morrgate , but hate the fantail. I find, if this make any sense their vulcanite is harder, but leaves tooth impressions like it’s softer. I don’t ever have a issue with any other brands stems. Makes me wonder if the composition is different.
