Do think the period of late 80's-early 90's featured Peterson's best rustication. My best rusticated pipe of any maker in my collection is a 1989 deerstalker.
The 80’s we’re hit and miss. I have really nice Pete’s from the 80’s, but I also have seen and held garbage.Have 1 of those in rusticated finish.

Smokingpipeseu packages have to be signed for so maybe that’s why? I signed a piece of paper asking them to leave in mail box or breeze way. So far it has worked.

Have you fired yours up yet?
That’s awesome you weren’t messing around!
It’s a wear gap. That way you never have to worry about your stem not fitting after years of cleaning out/dumping the well. Please forgive my ignorance. Serious question. What is the purpose of the Peterson pipes where the stem doesn't fit all the way flush with the shank?
That bothers my OCD a bit. I figure there has to be a purpose...
Haha only somewhat! I was late to the party and there were still a bunch left. I thought that they’ll sell out as people start waking up so I should grab a few for guys on here. A few weeks later and they’re still on SPEThat’s awesome you weren’t messing around!

Here’s a good post about it. 25. Closing the Gap: The Mythos of Peterson’s Space-Fitting System Stem (Revised) - https://petersonpipenotes.org/2015/06/08/closing-the-gap-the-mythos-of-petersons-space-fitting-system-stem/
Yeah I thought the same thing. I guess people really don’t like the rustication? Personally I love it feels great in hand. I’ve always liked the way pine cones look thoHaha only somewhat!
