davet, that Deluxe below the Regal looks to be a post WW2 -early 50's pipe. From the picture it looks like a saddle bit billiard. Linkman had a lot of unusual shapes as well as standard classic shapes. On their shape charts the pipe were not given shape name, but usually had a shape number which is stamped on most pipes. Some of the post WW2 stuff does not have a stamped number. If you will send me a PM with a mailing address I will send you a CD with all of the Grabow shape charts etc I have. Sometimes you will see two different shapes with the same number which means they were probably made at different times. A shape on the 1939 chart may have a different number than a similar pipe on the 1949 chart. In that case you gotta date it by type and placement of stem logo, stampings on the pipe etc. There's a lot of info on the DGCF about dating and also on RJ's site although it can be a bit confusing.

ejames, thanks for the great info. I've only browsed the DGCF a couple of times, I'll have to take time to join and read through it. That's one more step in you guys getting me addicted to collecting these pipes. That De Luxe pictured has 9789 stamped on it, I'll have a look for it. Thanks for the CD offer, will send a P.M.

I won this one a little while back, and it came to me ultra clean. From what I've read, it could have been made in anywhere from '32 to '44. The shape number is 8413. I think the rest of the marks are pretty visible in the pics. I want to see if EJames (or anyone) can nail down what year (about) it is.

Okay the marks aren't that clear... On the right side they are 8413 over IMPORTED BRUYERE. The left has LINKMAN'S over Dr Grabow in script over SELECT GRAIN. The bottom has Presmoked in script over REG. U.S. PAT. and PAT. NO. over 1896800.

I'd say early to mid 1940's. The Select Grain was top of the line when it was made.

The silver band is kinda squished out of round and the usual chatter, not too bad though and a tiny bit of white paint or something on the bottom. I think is a beaut, had to have it.

Definitely not what I search for but once I saw it I absolutely had to have it. You nailed it, old school & elegant. It's not what you usually find searching for Grabows, not sure of its rarity but I've never seen one. I'm sure one of our resident scholars can fill me in. I'm stoked! :puffy:

That Sculptura looks to be an 84L (large). That aluminum band, which really ain't a band, isn't squished. The shanks on all Grabow Canadians are oval shaped. Don't see many of these.

I noticed that while cleaning, it's got an incorrect round, plastic stem. I'll have to look for the proper one. Should the stem be as long as this one? I love the look of it that length even if it's wrong. Here it is cleaned up a little,

That Sculptura stem should be about 1 3/4" long. The factory can probably re-stem it for you.
