Anyone cut their own hair?

I got a nice wireless clipper with 12 guards and watched a YouTube video. I am very pleased with the results.

Ive been using a mid ‘30’s Schick Injector to shave my neck, so using a hand mirror wasn’t difficult.

Since I wear an early 20th century long on top and short side\back, I’m just doing the back and side.

I used to go to a barber by my office but shortly after we went into lockdown they lost their business. So, yes, I bought some clippers as well and started cutting my own hair. It was awful at first but each time I do it, I get a little better.

Love those old razors. I use a 1947 Gillette Superspeed daily. It’s solid brass under the plating and has the weight to remind you it’s a man’s razor. No need to throw money away on plastic razors. The best part is $4 in razor blades will last me at least three years AND give you a superior shave.

Been cutting my own hair for some time now. Not too shabby but not too happy with the results either. Still haven't mastered the side part cut.

Yes. Wahl Balding Clippers and 5 attachments do the job for me. No mirror needed. I cut once per week.

Covid has hurt many businesses.

Haircuts are easy. I’ll never pay a barber again. We’ve all paid for a bad haircut. I’ll never have one again — as long as I refrain from booze.

I cut my own hair for years and did very well. I have been going to a barber for about 4 years now and rarely do it myself. During the lock down I had to do it, and haven't lost the touch. I did have to buy new clippers though, old ones sparked and shorted after first time using them in years.

A friend's dad (the guy who got me into smoking pipes) used to cut his own hair, a little at a time, each morning with scissors. Just a couple of clips here and there, whatever didn't pass muster that morning.

His hair looked awfully good, if you catch my drift.

My girlfriend does mine. #7 guard, shear it all down when it starts to look bad or I have to go to a wedding or some such. I wear a ball cap 100% of the time so it goes unnoticed.

Yeah. COVID-19. Started cutting my own hair. Just run #1 on side and back, and 7 on top. Wear a hat most of the time, so top doesn't really matter.

Wahl clippers with a #1 on the noggin and dock the beard with a #4. To eliminate neckbeard I swipe my wife's razor in the shower once a week, but back before the beard I used a 1940s Gillette Tech Razor that had been my grandfather's.

My wife cuts mine she is good but quite a bit more expensive than my local Barbers.
Do any of you guys put shaving gel on your face and then shave with an electric razor? it gives a shave as good as a wet razor IMO its quicker and there is less blood.

I do. I've done since 14 years old. Buzzcut is really easy (nothing fancy, I just cut it short, same length all around).

I'll have to add that getting a professonal haircut can be a crap shoot. I went to this one female barber who put the part where she wanted it rather than where it was when I came in. Cuts here range from $14 to $25 plus a tip.

I have used those places where you get a different cutter each time you visit, no like!! Who needs a get acquainted cut at my expense. LOL!!

I figure my skills will evolve just like shaving my neck with the old injector evolved.

In the last 15 years the only way my hair has been cut is with livestock clippers.
As soon as it reaches 3-4" length that's annoying enough for me. I hate having a wet mop on my head durning workouts.
