Every time I buy a new Savinelli, I think that it will be my last. I buy based on appeal of shapes and finishes, and after all, there are only so many pipes in any makers line, right? At some point, you've exhausted the appealing options in the inventory.
Well, this morning, I was perusing at SmokingPipes, and fell in love with another Savinelli, Capri Ebony 316 121 Ex. It is a pot with a sea rock like finish and a stem that looked a little like a military mount. (Maybe someone can tell me the correct technical name)
It was for sale, more than 50% discounted from MSRP. ($88 versus $195) I called my pal Keith at SP and asked him how often the pipe would be stocked, thinking I would wait a month or so, if they were easily available.
Unfortunately for my wallet, the line has been discontinued, so who knows when another would be available. So, my resistance crumbled, and I ordered the pipe alone with a tin of C&D Old Grove.
I would like to say that I'm going to hold off and use the pipe on the kickoff of next weeks tobacco crawl, but I know I will lack the will power.
Here's the pic. Let me know what you think. I'm a proud papa.
