How are their Churchwardens? I'm attracted to them. Maybe a bit more than the Peterson versions.

I have this Savinelli Quandale 602.

quandale-602-600x399.jpg

It is 8". Not quite a chuchwarden depending on your definition but I think it smokes great.

I also have this Tundra 611EX. I use it for Escudo. I love it.

I got both pipes in the mail yesterday, and I've got to say that I'm very happy with my purchases. I absolutely fell in love with the appearance and feel of the 606 KS model and I'm very excited to smoke it. It has a deep bowl, but it's very pleasing in the hand and just feels..right. Hard to explains sometimes, but I'm eager to run a bowl through it soon.
I am very intrigued by the 316 KS as well - it's a shape that I have no experience with, and I found myself trying to wrap my head around how to pack it. I smoked it for the first time tonight with a bowl of Bald Headed Teacher from 4Noggins, and I really wanted to post a reflection on it. I'm not gonna lie, it felt pretty awkward trying to pack it. Finally I just took a deep breath, winged it (with a rough and probably poor version of the 'cannonball' method I had read about), and lit it up. While it was a shorter smoke than I thought it would be (only lasted about half an hour - probably a sign of my fast paced-puffing and/or not packing enough tobacco in the bowl), this thing smokes amazing. As a matter of fact, I didn't have to relight at all, which is the first time that has happened for me. The draw was effortless, the pipe is light enough to clench when I need to, and it just seemed easy to smoke it. Very interested to continue experimenting with both of these new pipes!

Savinelli is a great brand. I have been intrigued by the 316 as well but I wound up buying a 320 Porto Cervo and it is absolutely beautiful. A great smoker too! For 104 bucks you can't find a better pipe in my humble opinion.

I've had many Savs in the past, but sold them off when I left the ranks, briefly. I wish I had them back. My favorite was the partially bent bulldog. I found these pipes to be well made, beautiful and excellent, dry smokers. I agree, one of the best values you can find in a new or estate pipe. Enjoy them, my friend.

I would have to agree guys! Savinelli is quickly becoming my preferred brand of pipe, and I find myself reaching for them more often than I do my artisan pipes even. When I started smoking pipes a couple of years ago I knew that a lot of people recommended/swore by Savinellis - now I can understand why. My only regret is not investing into them sooner. You can officially count me on board for the 'hype train' for these pipes, lol. :D

The first pipe I ever bought was a Savinelli Linea Piu 5. I still own the pipe 15 years later and would never let it leave my collection due to sentimental reasons. It is a great smoking pipe that I would smoke more often had it have a vulcanite stem. I believe that without a doubt Savinelli is the best bang for the buck of any factory pipe. They have a nice open draw that makes smoking much more pleasurable at least to me. I have owned probably 5 other Savinelli's over the years but sold them all because they were just too big, there was never anything wrong with how they smoked. I have owned filter Sav's that I never used a filter in and they all smoked great. I owned a Savinelli Autograph that is their top of the line and it smoked as good as any of my lower end ones which means they care about all the pipes they sell, not just the expensive ones.
I have owned numerous other Italian brands such as Castello, Radice, Caminetto, Mastro De Paja, Ser Jacobo, Viprati, Don Carlos and Ascorti and in my opinion Savinelli is the best bang for the buck. I believe that Savinelli is the best brand for a beginner smoker as the prices are excellent and the smoking properities makes it much easier for the beginner. When you have a nice open draw, you will not have to deal with a gurgling pipe and if your pipe is gurgling, then you will know it is your technique or not drying your tobacco enough, but it will not be the pipe.
Here is a pic of my first pipe. I am lucky I started with this pipe because if I had started with a Peterson I bought early on, I most likely would have quit pipe smoking as that Peterson was a real dog( sorry to any Peterson lovers, I am not trying to diss you).

I love Savinelli pipes, and I have 4 of them and they're all good smoking pipes. Quality pipes at a great price.
Below are the the following: KS 111 Toscana, 645 Bent Apple Short Pipe, KS 616 Trevi (rusticated)

Of course the ever popular: KS 320 Trevi (smooth)

I'm thinking about getting this Savinelli: Punto Oro Sandblasted Silver Army Mount (310 KS)

However, at this price I can commission a custom pipe from an up-and-coming artisan or get a very decent estate artisan. Or I could get one or two Battenkill fly reels. Decisions, decisions.

I have a 320 rusticated. I love the company and the pipe. I've dedicated it to Dunhill NC, one of my favorite tobaccos. I think MSO is right, you can't go wrong with either. Just gets the one that you fancy the most.

I now have 13 lucky Savinelli pipes and each smokes wonderfully. While I keep looking, and love the look of the Punto Oro billiards, I keep falling back on the basic Roma line. I guess that is a big plus for Savinelli, they make a great product for customers with diverse means. I think for Father's Day I will fill out my line-up with a 111KS, then I will be done. (Maybe)

This must be Savinelli pipe week on the forum. I still need to smoke the one I got yesterday. Probably won't get around to it until sometime next week.

I think there's good reason why so many people have responded to the thread - they are great pipes! I love all of the pictures provided too, cool to see the pipes others enjoy. I actually have funds for one more purchase, and then my PAD will be satisfied. Even though I just got two new savs, I may have to snag one more. They just smoke so well!

Haha, good point mso. Let me rephrase it to 'temporarily' satisfying my PAD, lol

I have five Savs! All great smokers. The one I reach for most often is my 316 Tortuga.

Originally, I wasn't a fan of sandblasting or rustication, but Savinelli does a fantastic job and changed my mind.
