Welcome to all the New Members!
Read through this thread carefully and you'll find a lot of good information concerning site functions.

How to upload your TWO Avatars and why you need to upload your Avatar in two places, how to post photos, and how the buttons work in the Reply Box.
We're glad to have you and we all look forward to your comments, questions, and of course those photos of your pipes.

And don't forget to read the Forum Rules: Forum Rules - Please Read Before Posting

Friend Requests:

Not being one to let a new question go to waste.

Here is a "How to" covering Friend Requests.
If you click on the "Members" tab at the top of the page you'll find what you are looking for.

Also, on the Main Magazine Page you'll see a listing of New Members, as well as the Avatars of those Members that are on line. You can click on those as well. That will take you to the Magazine side Profile.

Thirdly, you can click on the links in the bar just above the "New Member's" Avatars on the Main Magazine Page. Those links are "Newest" (what is showing by default), ]"Active" (list by latest to post), "Popular" (list by most accepted friends).
Don't forget to Capitalize those Thread Titles please.

And read the Forum Rules please: Forum Rules - Please Read Before Posting

Still needing some "Tricks and Tips" from you guys... or questions would be helpful as well.

:puffy:
Edit: Hey Guys, I cleaned this thread up, by removing almost all of the superfluous stuff. Just so it's not so long, and packed with info. L.

Here's a good question from eaglerico:

How does someone add a picture to the signature??

It's not much different than posting a photo in the "Reply Box".

(It's not as hard as it looks.)
1) Click on your Screen Name under your Avatar in the Forum.

2) In the upper-right corner of your Forum Profile Page click on "Edit".

3) You will see the signature box.

4) You can type in sayings and such in that box.

5) Make sure you resize your photo to a reasonable size, and be sure that it is uploaded to a photo site e.g. Photobucket.com or similar site.

6) Make sure that you have " or at the front of the photo URL and or at the end. (added an extra space in each of the codes to prevent the code from functioning)

7) Click "Update Profile".

Lawrence can you post some tips on how to find a member by searching for them in the members section. I seem to never be able to find someone when I try to look for them. I am resigned to searching old posts I remember them posting in in order to be able to send them a message.

Eaglerico that's a good question:
Lawrence can you post some tips on how to find a member by searching for them in the members section.

I'll try. :D
If you click on the "Members" tab at the top of any page, it will take you to the Members Directory.

Members are listed by "latest activity" first.

So, if you want to friend everyone you can send requests page by page until you reach the member that has the oldest last post.
However; there is the categorization by first letter of the Member's first "real" name.

E.g. if you click on the letter "L" you'll find the Cortezattic and Pstlpkr are listed there.

Pstlpkr is of course is your's truly. This will require a bit of searching through to find who you are looking for. There are currently 18 pages of "L's".
Now there are a couple of different ways that I search for members and some of their past postings.

1) I will sometimes just click on the "Members" tab at the top then either "copy/Ctrl-V" or type the Member's Screen Name after the "/" in the address bar.

e.g. http://pipesmagazine.com/members/pstlpkr

This will bring you to the "Magazine" side Member's Profile Page.
(This is a bit more complicated)

2) I will go to the "Forum" main page.

Select a Forum Post at random.

Click on a any one's Screen Name under an Avatar.

When on that random Member's Forum Profile page I'll either "copy/Ctrl-V" or type the Member's Screen Name (that I'm trying to locate) after the "/" in the address bar.

http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/profile/pstlpkr

Hit Enter

That will take you to the desired member's Forum Profile Page.

This one is particularly useful if you wish to revisit an older post made by them. However; it is limited and won't show every sting that Member has posted in.

For example: Forum Profile page only goes back 3 weeks for replies and a year for started strings.

Of course if you can just click on the Member's screen name in a Forum and it will take you their Forum Profile Page as well.
I hope that will provide something you can use.

Searching for Members can be a bit... interesting.

PS

Another couple of things of worthy of note about the light gray links at the top of "Members Directory" page:

A) If you click on the light gray "Members Directory" link: It will take you to the "Main Forum" page.

B) If you click on the light gray "Find Members" link: It will take you to the "Pipe Events" page.
