Not tins, but 4oz. Boxes from McCranie's Park Road Series. I was window shopping at McCranie's when this series caught my eyes. Finding very little in the way of reviews I grabbed three boxes and figured I would give them a whirl.

Blends I grabbed are:
Bird Hunt
Payload
Whitewater

I didn't intend on opening anything anytime soon but since these come packed on ziptype baggies I figured I should jar them up.

BTW if anyone has smoked these, what am I in store for?

Your thoughts on this blend?
I've only had two bowls so far, and as a new pipe smoker I can't say that my impressions are very informed!

The tin note is great -- a lot of folks are familiar with the citrus scent of OGS; this is much sweeter and vanilla-tinged, very much like marmalade, and I do get a tangerine note. The quality of the Va's in this blend seem as good as anything else I've had (so far), but I'm still working on my cadence so I don't get tongue bite and that cigarette ash taste. There's abundant white smoke and the creaminess that I associate with cavendish, but it doesn't overwhelm the Va's. Don't ask me to characterize the Va's, I'm not that precise! But they do have the classic citrus and bread flavors. I don't get much burley at all, but my impression is that it acts as a kind of base note to give some depth and nuttiness underneath the other flavors. Happy to report back after a few more bowls.
