For that smoothing period, do you prefer to keep yours in the tin or jar it up?
I leave it in the tin. And keep it that way for a couple months or so, depending on moisture.
I only jar it when I have trouble finishing it after that time and I'm concerned about losing too much moisture. I try to finish what I open but some do get jarred if I get bored.

Tonight I opened up a tin of F&T Evans Blend that I received in an order from Mars last week. It's a mix of bright Virginias and dark cavendish in a medium chunky ribbon. Very nice, straightforward tobacco smell from the tin. I don't get any particular flavorings from it - just a mildly sweet and bready odor with a tinge of raisin, maybe. Good moisture level - sticks together a bit if I pinch it but it doesn't really leave any gooeyness on the finger. Packs nice and springy.
The smoke is mellow and consistent so far, and tastes kind of like if it were a Euro version of a Virginia based US codger blend. Nothing really sticks out, flavor-wise, and it's not a very concentrated flavor, but it's quite pleasant and I think it'll be a good addition for my summer rotation for when I want something easy and straightforward. Not as insipid as the reviews led me to think it might be.

Opened this tin of Rattray’s Marlin Flake from 2018 to see how the aging is affecting it. I think it needs quite a few more years to get where I like it, but it isn’t too bad right now.

I don’t remember if I showed this before, but I line the lid with tin foil and keep the tobacco in the tin after opening. This is enough to preserve it in ideal conditions for the two or three weeks it will last.
