Peterson’s Hyde Park from 2012.
This used to be blended by Gawith’s. Sobering to think the last time I bought a tin of this was 12 years ago. Time marches on!

The old stuff, that you have there, was so wonderful. The new version is a bland, standard ribbon cut tobacco with nothing special. I believe the old stuff was actually tinned Rum Flake

You guys will have to forgive me for the presentation and the pics. I opened this tin and jarred it as soon as I got home. So I don’t have proper pics of opening it. I’ll just send a few as it looks now.

I got this today from a local B&M. This tin has been there ever since my first visit. And it’s always sat atop a tin of SWR all by itself. Kind of out of place. It wasn’t stacked with the other tins of its type. I also noticed that it had no date on it like the other tins of this type. This place carries 6 or 7 of the Seattle pipe club blends in tins like this and they all have dates on the bottom. So this tin just looked out of place. It also felt a little light and sounded dry when I shook it. I guessed it was something old that hadn’t sold but with no date I have no way of telling how old. I was able to get the store owner to give me a discount. He sold it to me for an even $10. It’s definitely dry. Not much moisture left. I’m wondering if I should try to re-hydrate it some. I haven’t done much searching yet to see what I can find out about it but I did find a review on the Tobacco Reviews website from our guy @JimInks. The review was from Nov 8th, 2013. Also read it’s no longer in production. Do any of you remember this stuff? If so what do you remember. I’m new to all this but I find that it’s a different cut than anything else I’ve opened. Seems to have small cubes in the blend. IMG_1841.jpegIMG_1843.jpegIMG_1844.jpeg

Edit: I looked around on the interwebs a bit and if what I found is true then this tin is about 8 years old lol. It was discontinued back in 2016 along with about 10-15 other Sutliff blends.
That would explain why it’s a little on the dry side aye? 😂 So can I call this my first SCORE!! Or is this just a dried up tin of average Sutliff. Would this be considered aged or ruined? Let me know your thoughts guys.

Woke up this morning and found a couple tobacco orders on the porch. Since i have no patience and have to open them for sampling right away, figured i'd share. Accessibility is the name of the game on my shelves.

First, KBV Burley Morning Pipe:

Secondly, KBV Acadian Flek (Vaper):

You might be right, although I haven’t bought any rum flake in recent years. I remember it being more Virginia & rum than The Hyde Park, which is more burley & maple.

I could be wrong, in which case I invoke Cunningham's Law, but I believe that's just Sutliff Match Revelation in a tin.
