Hopefully common sense prevails and they just ban online cigarette sales and leave pipe tobacco & cigars alone. Sadly common sense and government (of all flavours) are rarely acquainted with one another.

Online cigarette sales have been illegal here for over a decade.

Interstate cigarette sales have been illegal for a long time, but you used to be able to order from internet sellers based on Indian Reservations who would deliver by UPS, not the postal service. That loophole got closed a few years back

I agree that on the surface this would appear to be essentially true, but I don't buy the idea that tobacco is just collateral damage in the vaping war...I think it's all very much intentional.

And certainly when it comes to the issue of on-line sales, doing away with all such tobacco sales is very much intentional. I would further speculate that the reason it's been allowed to go on so freely as long as it has was to put as many B&M's out of business as possible first.

Finally there's an instance where it'd actually be nice if Congress was paralyzed pursing a hopeless endeavor for a few more months.

"Gridlock" in congress is almost always the best you can hope for.

At least we have a great network here to buy, sell, and trade. I'm also fortunate to have two great local B&Ms. Every time I save funds to purchase a large online order there's a local Esoterica drop that I can't refuse ?

Agreed. I can’t imagine any law that bars online sales from retailers that wouldn’t also bar sales between individuals. I don’t think a site would last long being an unlawful online sale site for tobacco.

I agree with that as well, but I was thinking primarily in terms of the site losing the ad revenue necessary to stay up and running.

Depends on what the final wording is. Talk up to now has been the intention of banning all "non face to face" sales, which would include banning mail order.

right.. it's not just online, but anything not face to face.
so I don't think person to person would be banned, but retail sales.

Like I've said before, the reason to stockpile tobacco is for when the revolution comes it can be used as currency. ?
