Not true. Wilson is a hockey player who is prone to violence. Reaves is a thug pretending to be a hockey player.Reaves looked like the West's version of Wilson.
Except Wilson can actually play hockey every once in a while.Reaves looked like the West's version of Wilson.
They did this for the 2018 Olympic womens team after they won gold. Lamoureux’s page said “She is currently wanted for murder” after the shootout goal. And the goaltenders occupation was listed as “Secretary of Defense”.Someone updated the Ryan Reaves wiki page and it’s incredible. No shit this popped up when I googled his suspension a few minutes ago...

Someone did that to the Rangers after a particularly crushing loss to the Caps. It said Owner; Tom Wilson.Someone updated the Ryan Reaves wiki page and it’s incredible. No shit this popped up when I googled his suspension a few minutes ago...

The Graves hit was bad. If Reaves wanted payback he could have done it, as you said, cleanly, or at least close. He knows how to hit. If nobody wants to drop the gloves he could have sent a message another way.Ok, I am a Ryan Reaves fan who owns a Reaves jersey, so let me chime in with some thoughts.
After his kneeling for the flag last year I lost almost all respect for him. He’s a Canadian kneeling for our anthem. The dude just wanted the spotlight, and he should have done that somewhere else, and the NHL went soft and didn’t reprimand him and the others for that stunt. That is my stance on that, and seeing that today is Memorial Day, I say that with a lot of emphasis. But we can all have our opinions on that.
However, other than that, I like Ryan Reaves because he is mostly clean, which is rare for an enforcer, and he is the last true enforcer. I think Reaves said something on a podcast about his coach in St. Louis having him train boxing instead of training with the team for the first two years (I could be mistaken on the specifics, but it was something close to that). I like the role of the enforcer in hockey, and it is a role that needs to be around. Growing up during the Dead Puck Era, which had the best enforcers (yes, they were better than the 80s guys because they were actively training to fight, unlike guys in the 80s), probably influences my opinion to an extent. Without fighting, hockey has nothing to make it stand out amongst other sports here.
As for last night: After watching highlights, Graves should not have finished that check. He was actively looking to hurt Janmark because Janmark has been playing well. Maybe not in the way Scott Stevens would go out and head hunt, but the Avs as a whole were probably looking to hurt Janmark to an extent. And so they had to answer, just like Vegas would have to be prepared to answer for anything they did. Graves didn’t live up the “The Code,” and refused to drop the gloves with Reaves. So Reaves did what he is paid to do, and that is get payback.
It was hard to see what was happening, and everyone is speculating. Reaves shoved Graves to the ice. Was he putting his knee on Graves’ helmet? Was it on his neck? Hard to see. Either way, if Reaves wanted to really hurt Graves he could have. Avs fans are acting like it was murder, even though many of them grew up during the 80s-2000s and they also know that this wasn’t anything that we don’t see at least once a season from someone. Many of them also grew up during the Avs-Wings rivalry, which was much worse.
Then, you see Saad doing the exact same thing that Reaves did to Pietrangelo. Where are the Avs fans on that one?
Reaves is paid to do one thing, and that isn’t scoring goals. The Avs had no one that could answer to him, so they shouldn’t have gone after Janmark.
In the end, the Avs are a great team this season. Let’s just remember that their record against Vegas this season is even with Vegas’ record against them. The Avs also got smoked this season 8-3 in one of their games against the Wild. So keep that in mind when you read Avs fans getting cocky online about their 7-1 victory last night.
I think the reason he is called the last true enforcer is because he trained to fight. That was his only purpose. And based on his stats of maybe losing three fights in his entire career, I would say he is top 5 of all time. Those guys in the 80s and early 90s were very good, but many of them were not actively training for the arms race that happened in the late 90s and 2000s. Reaves is very fast and technical (watch how fast he dodged punches, and how many he dodged, in his fight against McGrattan back when he was young). Watch how he man handled and dragged around our Ducks icon George Parros. There are only a few guys right now that have the potential to truly match him, and they would have to train. The Graves hit was bad. If Reaves wanted payback he could have done it, as you said, cleanly, or at least close. He knows how to hit. If nobody wants to drop the gloves he could have sent a message another way.
He did it dirty instead, because he and his team were thoroughly frustrated by having absolutely no answer for the Avs and getting completely dominated.
The last true enforcer? Some would say there are still plenty. Some would say there haven’t been any for a decade.
Either way, I have respect for what Reaves brings to a team, but what we saw from him last night is hard to respect and has no place in the game.
Also, as far as regular season stats, NHL Playoffs rule number 1: Regular season stats mean NOTHING and have 0 predictive value in the playoffs.
And yeah, this is often true. I do think that you can see who has a good chance from the regular season, though. I will say that in their short history, Vegas doesn’t have the fire in the playoffs that other teams do.Also, as far as regular season stats, NHL Playoffs rule number 1: Regular season stats mean NOTHING and have 0 predictive value in the playoffs.
Yep. The epic drought for leaf nation continues.Poor Leafs. I wonder if the Suicide Prevention hotlines in Toronto are ringing off the hook right now.
Just goes to show you how crucial momentum is in the NHL. And how equally crucial it is to never let it slip away once you have it.
Looks like tonight proved your point. People were saying the Leafs were going to sweep the Canadiens.Yeah, the top 16 in the regular season have a chance... ?
Another one for Perry is unlikely but you never know!
Autumn happens every year ?Looks like the Leafs fell off the tree.
