Dang. I didn't notice that the old thread was closed and a new one was open. Since I'm WAY behind on the welcoming, I'll just blanket everyone with a big hearty "Come on in, sit right down and pack a pipe!"
Although I have to mention to Obelus: nice collection! I would so love to get one that looks like this one of yours. That is very nice.
Also @nramey: I have a Brigham that's very similar to the one in your avatar pic. Got mine as an estate, and it's becoming one of my faves.
Welcome all!

Simon

Greetings to all Pipes Magazine members,
Glad to join PipesMagazine.com. Kevin is doing a fine job making a interesting and informative site.
I have been a pipe and cigar smoker for almost 20 years (the last 12 years smoking mostly pipes). The most important things I have learned (albeit little) about pipes and tobaccos is discovering what I appreciate, what I do not appreciate and why. Learning the "why's" is what makes this hobby mentally stimulating and fun, but all for me is subservient to tobacco enjoyment- all the better if among friends.
Looking forward to learning about what fellow members are doing and enjoying related to pipes and pipe tobaccos.
Happy smoking,

Mike

Welcome to all the newest members.

As you point out Pipeline learning about pipes is a life long process.

Since I joined I have learned more from the members in the past couple of years than in the 33 years prior.

The members love questions and pictures to "all y'all" new guys; don't be shy!
We're glad to have you all in the fraternity.

I always forget about this thread. Welcome all New Members and ask away. You must remember that the only stupid question is the one not asked.

Greetings everyone!

As the name states, I am a lady pipe smoker. I have been enjoying the briar for a few years now, and cigars a few years longer. I actually work part time in a cigar shop in Melbourne, FL. I am looking forward to gaining vast knowledge from the site and people here. I currently have six pipes, and as with all great hobbies, looking to expand. I recently acquired an estate Dunhill shell billiard that is beyond amazing. Looking for another Dunhill!

Pipe Dreams!

Hello all. I am a recent noob in the pipe world. I got a basic briar, a small basic Meerschaum and a corn cob pipe. I love smoking pipe on the porch after a long day. I actually prefer the corncob. This web site is great and very informative. I actually have a couple of noob questions.
1) I always end up with a bit of unused tobacco in the bottom of the pipe no matter how I pack it. Is this normal and how do I fix this?
2) Recently had a long weekend where I was able to smoke a lot. Woke up one day with an extremely sore tounge and the corners of my mouth somewhat sensitive. I no longer get the tounge bite so not sure why this happened. Any thoughts?

Hi all! I'm a retired Air Traffic Controller living in SC. I've been smoking a pipe since my first time at college in 1973. I spend a few hours a week at Boda Pipe's in Greenville, SC. I have a fair collection of pipes and a few years of tobacco cellared.
