Not gonna happen. I'm not knocking C&D and I know a lot of people like their style, but I'm not one of them. I'm not going to stop smoking GH, Dan, or Kopp just to "buy American." Small businesses in other countries need support, too.
Again I feel like people are seriously missing the point of what I'm saying here lol.
I smoke almost no C&D and I'm avid free-market. My point is where the money is going. If you know anything about commodity based businesses very little of the retail price goes to the producer. It's mostly everything in between.
After the dust settles from this there are basically gonna be 2 websites (the major way most of us buy our stuff) left in the entire U.S. for buying pipe tobacco. (Put places like Boswell's to the side for argument, they're *essentially* a B&M)
Those 2 websites are gonna be SmokingPipes, and Pipes&Cigars. Period.
If you love your Gawith Hogarth, awesome! They're basically what's looking to be my favourite producer (someone who actually MANUFACTURES tobacco) after this too. Buy them from SmokingPipes. Buy everything that isn't Boswell* (*Read ALL B&M's) from SmokingPipes!
Because after this SmokingPipes is gonna have literally everything that Pipes&Cigars has, plus C&D. There will be literally no other differentiating factor other than price and customer service, STG has made sure of that! There will be no blend at P&C you can't get at SP. P&C will employe a skeleton crew with crap customer support that sends all profits to Denmark.
So all I'm saying is WHATEVER you buy, buy it at the place that is based here. That creates real jobs here. That gives good prompt customer service here. That supports the last tobacco producer left here. That risks developing the last new innovative products/blends allowed to be produced (by our stupid laws) here. That sends out Christmas cards here. And maybe even consider doing so if it costs ya a few extra cents per ounce of that imported blend you love so much.
At least that's what I'll be doing...
