Who should be allowed to buy them?

What's a resonable price?

A $200 transfer fee has limited the number of homicides from legal machine guns to two in 90 years.

One horrible reality about do gooders, is their lawyers don’t have Humansville High School certificates. Them there buggers are way smarter, better educated, and just flat out better than our side.

Look at captal punishment.

They are winning that issue everywhere, even Montana.

The flaw in Montana’s law is the wrong language about the death drugs.

And our side is not helping.

The right to buy your very own AR 15 on your 18th birthday is a recipe for disaster.

Like Uvalde:

The gunman who killed 19 kids and two teachers at a Texas elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, was a local high school student with few if any friends who officials said legally purchased two assault rifles and scores of ammo last week for his 18th birthday.

Even the Owl Bar requires you to be 21 to drink a beer.

This can all be summed up by Joe Bidens quote from the 1970s.
When talking about desegregation and bussing inner city kids to suburban schools.
He said he didn't want his kids growing up in a "racial jungle".
Before and sinse then, one side of the political spectrum has worked hard at keeping certain groups in the cities, poor, and reliant on the government.
This will probably be deleted, but is based on verifiable fact. 90+% of the impoverished inner city vote for one side, the side that keep them poor and dependent.
Luckily people are waking up.
The bottom line is that there is a lot of truth to what you just wrote. Just to balance it out, I am not sure that the "other" side gave a rat's ass about the issue as well when it came down to it.

Personally, I have always viewed it as an economics driven issue where definitely there are groups who gain by keeping other groups at each other's throats. Poor white folks in the rural areas have more in common with black folks in the inner city then they suspect. There issues overlap in so many places that if you were to put them on a Venn diagram it would be very clear. Neither party benefits if those two groups suddenly unite. That's just my two cents and I might be wrong about it.

Agreed.
But there are more than 2 sides.
The 2 current sides are nearly equally horrible, just in different ways. One is trying to fundamentally change our country for the worse. And one is trying to increase our national power and standing, no matter the price. I definitely stand firmly on the side that is not trying to socially change us for the worse. That side can never be successful. The side that believes anyone can be successful with some effort is the side id choose. Not the "get in line for your check" side.
But in the mix there are a few bright lights.....very few.
Many people don't know there are a handful of politicians who have mortgages, and car notes, and still have dept from college. They dont seek power, or money, or nightly news blurbs. There are federal politicians whos net worth is less than $200,000. And others who spend that on a weekend at the spa. Some whos worth has stayed the same over many years in congress, while others have gained tens of millions in the same time.
And yes, it does all come down to money.
Just reading about how politicians 200 years ago behaved makes me wish things still worked that way. When tailors, and lawyers, and bankers took a few years off to run for office to better our new country.
Anyways, there is a better way, and its easy.
Term limits, absolutely zero income allowed except your government pay, and accountability in line with the constitution.
So, if you create a bill that violates the constitution, no vote, its immediately scrapped. If you pass a law that is later found to be unconditional, you are fined, jailed, or both.
If you are the manager of Walmart, and you knowingly fire someone due to race, creed or sexual orientation, you are immediately and harshly dealt with. Same should go with politicians.
Our wonderful governor here in NYS famously said, "its not my job to follow the constitution, its my job to keep NYers safe", after she defied the Bruin SCOTUS decision and doubled down on gun control in 2022.
I don't care what side you're on, that should be immediate dismissal.
I literally heard her inauguration when she took an oath, on Bible and country to obey and FOLLOW the constitution of the US.
Our governor before this one once said, right after he pushed the SafeAct through in the middle of the night. "I understand some of this may not pass strick scrutiny, but we will see what sticks." He also famously said, "there is no place for conservatives in NYS."
Then he got fired for being a pervert...go figure.
There, now THIS should get me banned. :)

About 90% of SCOTUS decisions are interesting only to judges and lawyers, not the public. They aren’t about God, guns and gays.

SCOTUS defines what the constitution means. And there’s no other way, it could be done. Otherwise I get to decide.:)

And their power is only to invalidate a law, in order to protect our rights. They can’t really make decrees of new laws.

The law evolves and slowly changes.

lol. I am a political agnostic- I doubt everyone.
Me too.
This is why local elections are far more important than federal elections for the little guys like us.
City, town, county, and state elections can mean the difference between rights being taken, and taxes lowered.
I unfortunately live in NYS.
I have family in Wyoming.
Their taxes are lower, their rights are more intact, they dont need a permit to build a shed, cost of living is lower and people are happier.
Also have friends in WV.
Nearly the same as Wyoming.
And no federal elections have made this so. This is local and state legislation.
This is why the founders said that anything not directly in the constitution is left to the state.
You can pick the state that most closely mirrors your views.
Unfortunately, some states like NY are not satisfied with that and want to control constitutional rights also.
And the SCOTUS has no teeth to uphold their decisions in rouge state legislatures.
Ok, im done getting carried away. :)
This is definitely not the place for even light politics.
