Agreed.
But there are more than 2 sides.
The 2 current sides are nearly equally horrible, just in different ways. One is trying to fundamentally change our country for the worse. And one is trying to increase our national power and standing, no matter the price. I definitely stand firmly on the side that is not trying to socially change us for the worse. That side can never be successful. The side that believes anyone can be successful with some effort is the side id choose. Not the "get in line for your check" side.
But in the mix there are a few bright lights.....very few.
Many people don't know there are a handful of politicians who have mortgages, and car notes, and still have dept from college. They dont seek power, or money, or nightly news blurbs. There are federal politicians whos net worth is less than $200,000. And others who spend that on a weekend at the spa. Some whos worth has stayed the same over many years in congress, while others have gained tens of millions in the same time.
And yes, it does all come down to money.
Just reading about how politicians 200 years ago behaved makes me wish things still worked that way. When tailors, and lawyers, and bankers took a few years off to run for office to better our new country.
Anyways, there is a better way, and its easy.
Term limits, absolutely zero income allowed except your government pay, and accountability in line with the constitution.
So, if you create a bill that violates the constitution, no vote, its immediately scrapped. If you pass a law that is later found to be unconditional, you are fined, jailed, or both.
If you are the manager of Walmart, and you knowingly fire someone due to race, creed or sexual orientation, you are immediately and harshly dealt with. Same should go with politicians.
Our wonderful governor here in NYS famously said, "its not my job to follow the constitution, its my job to keep NYers safe", after she defied the Bruin SCOTUS decision and doubled down on gun control in 2022.
I don't care what side you're on, that should be immediate dismissal.
I literally heard her inauguration when she took an oath, on Bible and country to obey and FOLLOW the constitution of the US.
Our governor before this one once said, right after he pushed the SafeAct through in the middle of the night. "I understand some of this may not pass strick scrutiny, but we will see what sticks." He also famously said, "there is no place for conservatives in NYS."
Then he got fired for being a pervert...go figure.
There, now THIS should get me banned.
