I am surprised no one mentioned this one.

I saw that one, but forgot to watch it. I'm not sure those stems are from 1919, the buttons don't look period, but the set is looks unsmoked.

When I bought mine:

which also has more elaborate sterling work and a rare black amber stem, I paid about half this amount. Judging from a number of recent eBay auctions, interest in 19th century pipes has grown, as have the prices they now get. Used to be the kiss of death not all that long ago.

I see this seller offering many rare, desirable pipes with this "top repair" procedure done. I suppose if a pipe had sentimental value I'd consider a repair of this type but I wouldn't think a pipe like this would otherwise be desirable at near-market prices.
