Vegas Baby!!!
I was watching this one and considering making an offer, but I'm really out of the game. Even with the terrible images, it looked promising, and for what the buyer stole it for, it would have to be a total loss not to be a good deal.
Appearances can be deceiving. I've had a few vintage pipes that looked great and well cared for that turned out to be total losses. Mostly too dried out to be used.
Hopefully it’s as nice as the pictures. 😜

It’s slowly working it’s way to me.

The description is as good as the photos.

What’s fantastic to me is I own a GBD that has “DASH” in the case

Here's a PIpestud auction miss Saturday. Good 9438's do pretty well, this one is advertised as un-smoked, but not great photos to justify that claim. I bet it ends up on a Deadmans Pipes auction a few months from now.

I'd love to see it when it's cleaned up. Would also love to see the hallmarks and 1896 seems a bit early for a wind cap that was patented in 1906.

Posting a return for this pipe. Reason? I thought I'd post the photos of the chamber in case it comes up for auction again. Caveat emptor...

This is a very sad disappointment and I feel for you. I did not bid because I suspected serious damage to the inner rim.
I detected it on the picture; pocket knife carnage for sure. Did you forward the return through Ebay, or did you contact the seller ?
The briar looks so dry it could possibly crumble in your hands when further cleaning it.
Happened to me once with a ( not so ) fine GBD churchwarden. The exteroir was immaculate, but when I started reaming the bowl went to smithereens.

This Barling 303 LF did very well at auction:

Evidently, one of the bidders retracted its bid, so who knows what the total might have reached, but pretty good and the pipe looks to be in excellent condition.

Wonderful pipe in fine condition, amazing blast. I watched this one, but am not willing to pay $550,00 + taxes.
I believe my one Family Era Quaint Canadian is a Long Flat one. I like these pipes with their extended shanks
( like Dunhills ES ) a lot. Very elegant. Cooler smoke ? Depends on the machinist, but could very well be.
I hope a forum member won it .

Too bad the retracted bid never shows :)

Some interesting pipes went off today.

The Comoy's 102 is fairly common, but I don't recall seeing it in Blue Riband grade.

Deadmanspipes continues to post some rarities:

I'm a huge Peterson fan, but, as to that 1916, hells bells, bought a nearly unsmoked 1900 Salmon and Gluckstein in the same shape with similar silver band, (albeit lighter stain), from an online dealer about 12 years ago for around $50. I should add, that mine had a tapered bone stem.
