Also it was me who won the bulldog. From what I can tell it is from Oct 1918 - May 1919 given the arched Dunhill over London nomenclature

Agreed. The arched Dunhill was used very very briefly--for that reason alone this is a fine score.

At $122, it's worth a shot. Probably gooped up mortise, easy to remedy. Doesn't appear to be abused. The lava usually tends to preserve what's underneath.

Good idea, condition looks very promising. Wow, look at that button, no wear!

Ya know, now that I reflect, those old timers probably were a lot smarter than people nowadays give them credit for. The lava is like a fireproof barrier to combat rim charring.

I watched this with interest. Early 80’s most likely. Double stamped logo and grade was interesting. I find it odd that that would have occurred. Stem most likely a replacement. Bowl looks like it was topped, removing quite a bit of material. Looks unbalanced. Didn’t go for crazy money…

The Good: The "G" is highly sought after and you can see why when you look at the grain on this pipe. Condition: Great condition. There is a dark spot on the heel but the briar in the bowl looks good.

I liked this little fellow a lot, but suspected damage ( spraped out ) to the inner rim. This deterred me from bidding. On page 46/47 of this section I posted my $60,00 won Barling Tetley 1901 pipe in a wonderful

BEWLAY (LOEWE&Co.) 1909 UNSMOKED CASED COMPANION ESTATE PIPE SET W/STERLING | eBay

This set appears to be made by the latter Loewe & Co to my eye as the shapes are quintessentially Loewe, stout and muscular throughout and the best part is the Billiard remains unsmoked after 113 years and the Bulldog appears to have only seen one bowl so these puppies are mint!
