Has anyone else noticed that a large majority of the old calabashes date from around 1908 to 1912? There must have been a craze for them around that time.
Did you buy that one Don? Interesting to see it markes as the Cumberland, which was the Rustic version of the shape at one point. I think of it as the Ripon.SASIENI FOUR DOT "Cumberland" BULLDOG, PATENT FAMILY ERA, very good condition | eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/SASIENI-FOUR-DOT-Cumberland-BULLDOG-PATENT-FAMILY-ERA-very-good-condition/283749558619

Oh no Dave, that is WAY out of my price range!
But it is indeed stamped Cumberland.
That seller had half a dozen interesting pieces that did pretty well.
Great shape, but quite notable fills.SASIENI FOUR DOT "Cumberland" BULLDOG, PATENT FAMILY ERA, very good condition | eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/SASIENI-FOUR-DOT-Cumberland-BULLDOG-PATENT-FAMILY-ERA-very-good-condition/283749558619

Initially, I did not like Sasieni, but I now have 4 and find they are growing on me. And usually reasonably priced. Mine are all good smokers.Did you buy that one Don? Interesting to see it markes as the Cumberland, which was the Rustic version of the shape at one point. I think of it as the Ripon.

Bought a Louis Blumfeld BBB 1909 hallmarked Calabash a few weeks back for just over a hundo, looks very similar. 99% sure that’s a Redmanol stem, not amber.
Do you know Mike?
He found that whole lot at a physical auction, what a goldmine!
I gave him some guidance before he put them on Ebay.

It looks like it's been reamed to a fare-the-well. But I am far from a Dunhill expert.I'm trying to get sharper about older Dunhills. Should be easy, as I have so much to learn.
This auction recently ended (see below). I used pipedia and matched up the serial number to the pipe. Looks legit to me. Am I right? 1929? What about the stem? Does it look original? Any issues that you see that I might be missing?
Look toward the bottom of the bowl in that photo. I see 4 fills.?!?!?
To me it looks like a reflection. I would be VERY surprised to see ANY fills on a pre-war Sasieni Four Dot.Look toward the bottom of the bowl in that photo. I see 4 fills.
