Has anyone else noticed that a large majority of the old calabashes date from around 1908 to 1912? There must have been a craze for them around that time.

I don't know him, but now see his location is Glen Rock. When I find an auction to watch, I always check the sellers other items, and he had quite a few. That was a gold mine!

Do you know Mike?
He found that whole lot at a physical auction, what a goldmine!
I gave him some guidance before he put them on Ebay.

I'm trying to get sharper about older Dunhills. Should be easy, as I have so much to learn.

This auction recently ended (see below). I used pipedia and matched up the serial number to the pipe. Looks legit to me. Am I right? 1929? What about the stem? Does it look original? Any issues that you see that I might be missing?

Oh, yeah! Just got this 1910 beauty for 1/5th the eBay one. And it was beautifully restored by Steve Laug. There's some Margate in it for my first smoke. Nice and compact for a calabash.

It looks like it's been reamed to a fare-the-well. But I am far from a Dunhill expert.

I think the Manhattan Briar Pipe Company was cranking them out at that time accomidating a craze. I think I read about it in in an old "Retail Tobacconist" newspaper on google books.
