So you missed it by seconds, at which point it became a mistake and you then contacted the seller?
The text from the listing, which I quoted above, suggests the seller intended it to be an auction listing.
I didn't contact the seller. I would have bought the lot at $50, but I wouldn't bid on it at auction.
Gotcha. The seller also has a big lot of watches for a $25 BIN and feedback of 8, so looks like they are just trying to move a lot of stuff fast.
Anyone know more about this pipe?

Perhaps someone better versed in all things Comoy’s will chime in, but, I’ve read that the Royal grade emerged in the 1930s, but was superceded by the Blue Riband line; supposedly, it returned after WW II, and disappeared in the early 1980s. It seems to be a relatively high grade. Did you win it?
Are "Ashton" pipes considered british? Might be a dumb question but i figured I'd ask before I posted a pipe I won which is an interesting auction lol

I’ve had several of the 1920s-30s ones. They don’t have an apostrophe before the S in Comoy’s and they have a football shape logo. This one here is much later version.
Dr Bob sums it up nicely in this thread. The one in the current ebay ad, way over priced.

@TheIronMonkey I did get it as I know the seller from outside of eBay. I probably overpaid not knowing what these things are worth but I’ve been wanting a 214 for a long time and this was a nice one and the first I’d seen

Here’s 2 from my collect I sold a few months back.
Forgot to mention, all of the ones I have had have reinforced tenons and mortices

I was surprised I won the pipe. My max was $320 which I was sure was gonna get out bid. But hey I'm not complaining. I loved my 1 and only Ashton but had to sell it. I've been wanting a Sovereign but I didn't think I'd be in the market for an SG 3 with 14k ring. The pics suck which is probably why it didn't get more attention. I kind of think he might of shilled me up to that price but at that price I think I did ok. What do you all think. And of course I'll have better picks when it arrives.

Here's a Royal Comoy I had a long time ago (2011 or so?) I took terrible pictures back then, but this had the 30's-40's COM.

Vintage Ashton Sovereign Inner Tube Estate Tobacco Pipe Made in England | eBay
This pipe is in pretty good condition, it has been used. One side of upper stem is marked "Ashton Sovereign and SG in a oval over a 3. The other side is marked Made in England and a 12. Band is marked 14k A on the bottom.
