I will have to say that I have learned a lot in this thread, and it has stimulated a lot of thought. This morning, I decided to try something new, but really, is there anything new? No, a variation. It is a blending/loading technique that I want to perfect. I just leave all of the pipes in the rack, and toss handfulls of different blends at them, then just smoke the first one that looks full.
I know, I know, it is not just gravity. And, I apologize. Gravity with a tad bit of projection added, simmered over a little chance and randomness. I would be smoking one of these pipes now, but I am undecided which source of fire in which to use to light the pipe. If I use one of the flames that is hot, it may scorch my mouth.
Your suggestions of using the natural force of gravity inspires me, so I think that I will just allow the pipe to ignite on it's own using the natural ambient room light.
:::puff puff::: ...you know, I kind of like this. It burns very cool, but you sacrifice quite a bit of the flavor. I can easily see this bowl lasting quite a while. Cheers! :
