Ah, most of the projects went ok. I had one at Longforgan that was a shocker though lol.
A mishandled JCB or a poorly marked signalling trunk... every signal between Perth and Aberdeen went to red, they say....
a friend and I made an enemy of a Longforgan farmer when we were younger, we used to roll his haybales down to the burn and sit on them and ride them downstream until they'd get stuck, then go back and repeat... we may have partially flooded one of his fields

I used to purchase packets of Sobranie Cocktail for my missus for parties and social events, dinner dances and the like.
I will now have to plan family vacations around this list of fabulous shops. Don’t tell the kids I have ulterior motives to taking them Europe. Haha.
It’s so interesting to see these old photos. They were made on a view camera, where the image is backwards and upside down on the ground glass. That screws with people’s inate sense of composition, and you end up with a photo showing a lot of ceiling, instead of foreground!
I was lucky enough to be around to see Kramer's pipe shop in Beverly Hills, Barclay Rex in New York, the original Nat Sherman on Fifth Avenue, and Arnold's Tobacco Shop on Madison Avenue. All now gone.
I am fortunate to live near Peretti's and Watch City and am in the latter often. I would like to visit Country Squire as I have never been before. It's also been a long time since I have been in Iwan Ries.
Chiming in a bit late but I love stopping by Uhles here in Milwaukee but I’ve always wanted to get down to Chicago to Iwan Ries and check the store out. I was going to do that this summer by taking a train down but I got caught up in things so here’s to hoping for a Chicago adventure in 2025.
I'd love to visit the Annapolis Smoke Shop one more time, it closed in 2014. I spent a few afternoons hanging out with the owner, who shared with me his mainly British pipe collection. He had two file cabinets stuffed with literature from the late 40's onward. I was traveling when it closed. I always wondered what happened to all the ephemera.
