That’s a good guess and entirely possible. I’ll give it a few days then then take it further. Regarding the good reviews, at least on a forum like this you can see that they’re of long time standing and well respected, and the individuals who were happy with the service were just that
Their website looks very questionable. I would not order from them. Additionally, reviews can be manufactured whether they are for specific products on a retailer's site, or people recommending a site on a forum like this.

If I had to guess (and based on the Chinese looking script in some areas on the website) they are doing business out of Asia with a random US address to make it appear like they are an American company.
They are based on Long Island, NY. All of the packages have shipped from there.

It's a bench, located behind her, for the Dreamingpipes customers to sit and wait for their order to arrive.
Lunch is served annually.

Ah. A bench in the background. That would explain it being dead-level, too.

As for what the upright bipedal hominid is doing walking along with xits hand in the air, that would be one of those portable brain sucker limbic feedback loop widgets, wouldn't it, where xit looks at xitself looking at xitself while looking at xitself while pleading with Planet Earth to send xit money for some reason...

Neh ver mind

Xit hasn't gotten any feedback on xit's PipesMagazine post in the last 30 seconds, so xit's just making sure xit's still there.

That sounds almost like you think the Internet Age has created a feedback loop of narcissists in constant, endless meltdown.

C'mon, man. There are only 100 million selfies taken each day, and teens only spend (on average) nine hours per day on their phones....

Dreamingpipes began when the "Esoterica to China" rush was on. Their idea was to become an overnight tobacconist with rights to an Esoterica allotment from Arango that they could sell to China. There was even a "points system" they created to "earn the right" to buy Esoterica. My impression was that they never had much stable stock of anything, sort of a drop shipping situation. It's more of a proxy buyer service for Chinese pipe smokers, if you think about it from a functional perspective.

The points system is still in place and seems to be a fair way to stop people from swooping in and buying everything immediately. They also seem to have good stock and lots of items are out of stock suggesting they have the items on hand, or can easily get hold of those items? I just wish they would reply to my 2 emails though.

A couple label it as hobby supplies. I wouldn’t mind paying the customs charges if they were sensible, but last time I ordered from Smoking Pipes the charges came to £228 for 5 50g tins.
Not a practice that I’d support and I’d never do business with a supplier who cooperates with customers to violate customs regs no matter harmless it seems. All IMO, your mileage obviously varies, your choice. Looks like their storefront suits them.

I understand that entirely. My personal opinion is that it’s pure greed from the UK government and their prices don't actually follow their own guidelines for what should be charged. Disputing it is a waste of time and they’re all a bunch of crooks. If I want to try US blends not available here I don’t have much other option as I can’t afford the made up prices they come up with. I don’t expect many if any to agree with me there, but that’s just how I see it.

Yeah. But no. A fair way to distribute Esoterica is to limit each customer to 2 bags or something.

Their "points system," which is ONE point for each US Dollar spent, means that someone has to spend $1,899 to get ONE TIN OF ESOTERICA. Or $5,499 for the privilege of buying one 8 oz bag of Esoterica.

Don't sound fair to me. That's not even secondary market prices. That's just .... "beyond"...

From Dreamingpipes dot com:

"Esoterica and Germain blends will be DP Rewards Points only products.
For 2oz tins, you will need 1,899 DP Rewards points.
For 8oz bags, you will need 5,499 DP Rewards points.
Each customer can redeem a max of 2 items (max one 8oz bag) every 12 months.
Please first check your DP Rewards points balance below, then fill out the form.
Items are limited, there is no guarantee that we will be able to fulfill your request."

Yes very true. 2 bag limit would be good, but it is a good business idea for people who seem to have too much money to spend. It would be better to make it 200 points though, they must surely sell less with so many points needed.

LOL, “Dear Sir, Of course we’d be happy to work with you to violate UK customs laws and regulations.”
The shipper is responsible for the customs documents, not the buyer. Even at that, unless the shipper is a subject of the Crown, it isn't illegal to falsify declarations when mailing from outside the Once Great British Empire.
