Have I been scammed or am I just being paranoid?

I came across dreamingpipes a few days ago, and made an account. After a couple of back and forth emails which they responded to very quickly, I made a fairly large order on Tuesday of some SPC blends.

come today (Thursday) my order was apparently still being processed. I sent an email earlier today asking when I can expect the parcel to be dispatched, and several hours later haven’t had a response.

I know they have an account on here and that a number of people had good experiences with them a couple of years ago, but upon searching found others who had bad experiences. I’m a little concerned now.

does anyone here have any experience with them? I’d really like to receive my order as SPC will be sold out everywhere before long and I won’t have a chance of getting any at all.

I’m confused about the great reviews they’ve had though in the past. They seem to sell a lot to China so I wasn’t at all suspicious.

It things go tits up with this online store, keep looking. Just because it's OOS today doesn't mean it will be OOS tomorrow. I just went over to Iwan Ries and picked up a 4 oz tin of Hogshead.

Yep, but it looks like it's a mistake. If you head down the street on the other side you come across a building at 1129 - crappy looking office building, likely a few fly by night P.I.s and talent agents in there - I'd rather go in the pet shop! Doesn't inspire confidence is all I'm saying.

Yes, that looks entirely unlike a business that moves volumes of product. I know exactly what that building looks like inside, and I can smell the hallways from here.

Their website looks very questionable. I would not order from them. Additionally, reviews can be manufactured whether they are for specific products on a retailer's site, or people recommending a site on a forum like this.

If I had to guess (and based on the Chinese looking script in some areas on the website) they are doing business out of Asia with a random US address to make it appear like they are an American company.

I just made my second order with them late last week of pounds of H&H ODF and Bold Ky. It shipped after 2 days and I have a tracking number. Shipment should be here Sat.

Their automatic email notifications are glitchy, but their response to direct email has been good.

First shipment came without any problem. All product was fresh and in good physical condition.

If one of those blends isn't "Custodian's Surprise", sounds like it should be all good!

Until I discovered Pipestud and the bst here, I'm one of apparently very few that had good experiences (albeit only 2) with a consignment tobacco purveyor with very high prices - I couldn't ever complain about my customer experience although I did find better and more economical ways to source old tobacco when I felt an urge to try something from days gone by.

I’m in the UK which complicates things as I need discreet shipping, and not many companies do that.

You’re probably right! Haha, but my interpretation is, since many Chinese people use bots to buy a LOT of tobacco, they have sections specially in Chinese to cater for that crowd, so id presume most of their business is outside of the US to china and that’s their niche

That’s a good guess and entirely possible. I’ll give it a few days then then take it further. Regarding the good reviews, at least on a forum like this you can see that they’re of long time standing and well respected, and the individuals who were happy with the service were just that

That’s great to know, thank you. I wasn’t really concerned until I emailed and didn’t receive a response today, as their initial responses were very quick. If you’ve ordered a lot from them though at least they seem like a good reputable business and if I dont get anything in a few days I’ll give them a call, but I’m just concerned how much thatll cost me from the UK
