Greetings! Visited a B&M today and they had a few tins of Esoterica and Balkan Sobranie on their shelves. I was awestruck. The employee stated with no inquiry from me that Germain and Sons were ceasing production/shutting down and not making blends anymore. I asked if they had received these as part of Germains last release? The employee stated No, these were actually found in a warehouse and had been laying around a while.

I am skeptical as I cant imagine any retailer has Germain tins laying around seemingly forgotten as they would no doubt inventory their products. Second, no one on this forum has stated that. Third, I know Germain just had a recent drop of products in the US. So I was not surprised to see Germain products in a B&M.

Has anyone else heard this?

Thanks!

Somehow, I really doubt it. About the only thing I'd heard was that the next generation wasn't interested in carrying on the family business, and THAT was unsubstantiated.

Anyway, If there's a grain of truth in it, you'll find out when there's an announcement. Until then, it's just more pipeworld BS.

Did you buy any? If so, please will you post the date code on the bag/tin?

I've heard lots of interesting and untrue explanations for what goes on with Esoterica in terms of availability from folks at brick and mortar shops. A couple of sleepy shops I visited over Christmas holiday confided in me that Esoterica hasn't been imported in almost a decade.
