We probably do, but I had never heard of it. Never been into the handyman/Mr Fixit arena.

I wanted to make something similar as a cigar ashtray, but I was at a loss at both finding and fitting a curved rest on the side/rim of the tin.

I’m a cigar guy as well. You DON’T want to encase cigar ashes in a tin from my experience!?

But, the lower tin is easily “manipulated” to round out a few stogie slots (channel lock pliers, or finesse a broomstick on the edge). You will lose the ability to put the lid back on however...
