So ya paid $5 for a pipe and paid an extra $3 for shipping for a total of $8 for a pipe ya could have stopped on the way home at a drug store and got for $5. With out paying any extra for and ya would not have had to wait 4 days on it?

Since when are MM cobs being sold in drug stores? How about giving us all the name of these drug stores that sell MM cobs so we can save on shipping. I've not seen any in my area, and living in Chicago we have a mess of them.

I paid 4 for the Huck Finn and 8 for the Mark Twain and 4 for shipping (however as far out as I live I would have paid 4 or more in gas just to get to the drug store) and waited 3 days. Total of 16. But I did not get cheap china made corn cob that is not worth the packaging it is sold in.
I have used those cheap ones drug store corn cobs before and swore off corn cobs because they smoked about as good as bent up coke can. Hopefully these pipes will be a good return to the corn cob arena

OK... I did a search for MM cobs at drug stores and it does indeed seem that some Walgreen's drug stores sell them. However, they only seem to handle one pipe and the description is not given as to exactly what pipe it is. Then again, I've obviously never gone shopping for a pipe at a drug store! Even with that, and the taxes in Chicago, I'd much rather give my business/support directly to MM cob and have the luxury of choosing exactly what MM cobs I wish to buy. With that said, thesmokingtexan went about it the right way and as anyone would obviously normally do in purchasing some MM cob's.

We'll I almost thought I did not like the way the cob smoked. It had a weird plastic or varnish flavor added to the smoke. I thought well maybey it is because it needs to be broken in. Then I found one of those plastic covered paper filters in the stem removed it and it smokes fine. Why do they even put those filters in there?

Never been a fan of filters myself and I toss them out. There are quite a few pipes fitted for filters, but that certainly doesn't mean you must use one, albeit some swear by them. If by chance you really care for the way a MM cob smokes I'd strongly suggest that you get a 'Forever' stem which can be had in either acrylic or Lucite (a lot of styles). Great stems to have joined with a MM cob and their smaller stem opening makes up for a perfect draw when you don't use the filter.

I have found them in CVS (even recently), Rite Aid, Walgreens and several Smoker Freindly shops as well as similar cig outlets here in PA. Lately most have been MM Generals or Legends on the individual sale card and shrink wrapped.

Walgreens, CVS, I have also seen them in those discount tobacco barns, some truck stops, and some of those small local stop and rob type grocery stores.

I have never seen one that didn't have the Missouri meerschaum sticker on the bottom. Those stupid head shops with those glass pipes also have them around here.

Interesting, but then again most tobacco products are slowly disappearing from the shelves of drug stores here. Well actually, they are gone for the most part! As a matter of fact, as of January CVS will no longer sell any tobacco products. At times I have a hell of a time in even finding lighter fluid for my Zippo lighters anymore! Times they are a changing... :(

I have to say that the mark Twain cob pipe really smoked well. I took it really slow cause I w as worried about burning out the bowl. I ended up with a nice break in.

Great to hear. HERE is some good reading on the upkeep, and smoking cobs in general. Enjoy the Cob Koolaid!

The only cob I've seen for sale in drug stores is the MM Legend. That was at Rite Aid, and Walgreens. There is simply no possibility of finding MMs newest offerings such as the Mark Twain and Huck Finn in the drug store.

cobguy, I am not a big fan of aro's either but I love Peterson University Flake, it has a lite topping of plum that really works with the Virginia's and Burley. It is not overpowering but you definitely can taste the plum. It is also a beautiful flake to look at and the prices of Peterson tins are pretty good. Some people do not consider it to be an aro but I do.
Some of the CVS's around Sarasota Fl where I live do sell cobs. I bought mine however at my local b/m.

I've had a tin of Peterson University Flake sitting around for several months now but I haven't popped it open yet. Now you've got my interest peaked and maybe I'll crack it open this weekend. Always nice to have something to look forward to!

phil, give it a shot, it does have a unique flavor. You may have to let it sit and dry for half an hour to an hour or it might be fine out of the tin. I normally cube cut this blend or I will fold and stuff if I am outside smoking. Let us know if you like it.

This one, along with Irish Flake, are on my list to try soon.

I was hoping there would be some in the Box Pass. LOL
Quick question out of curiosity ... do you cube cut before or after drying?

I like to cut first and then let it dry.

For fold-n-stuff I like to fold while still pliable and then DGT it.

The only cobs I've ever seen in the drug stores were Legend sized pipes which had led me to believe that all they made were that size. Now the Huck Finns have smaller bowls which are great for a guy like me who can use it to extend a smoke break to 15 minutes or so and use it instead of a cigarette (at less than the price of a pack), and the C.G.'s, Mark Twains, Great Danes, etc. are much bigger than the legends and make nice sit down smokes. I love my legends for working around the yard, etc., but to really get the MM experience, at least for me, you need to experience the different sized pipes and how they all smoke. My ignorance was fixed for sure!

Holy mackerel bat man I just bought a mm corn cob on clearance at cvs for 1.72 . It is not one of the small ones either it is just a little smaller than the mark twain. I am about to hit up every cvs in the corpus area. The same pipe is only 6 bucks at walgreens
