Are you past break in and have there been differences in the flavor of favored blends Meer-vs-Briar?
Yes I'm past the break in. With meers it's usually about 12 bowls or so atleast. And I get a more pure tobacco flavor with meers than I do briars. I find briars a little more muted in flavor.

I don't understand what's happening on the sides around the holes. My other meers always color here too pretty quick, but this is just strange to me. If it were finger dirt, it would be black. I know. But this is just strange to me as I've not smoked a lattice this far before. It's just so different than the color of the shank.
This is also why I love doing this. Watching how things change.

and 3 posts later you are asking why the color (where your thumb and finger are touching the pipe) are a different color LOL
That's what I was thinking too, it's always where my fingers are. So you hold that one on the heel???
But if the color comes from the outside, wouldn't the spot where you hold it, NOT color, because it's being covered up?

Usually index finger around the bottom of the bowl with my thumb on the heel to balance it. Guess how I hold this one.
I don't think anyone actually uses those.
How are you finding the Altinay smokes vs your other meers with the screw in push pull tenons?
Shhhhhhhh-ut up ... let's see if he buys them....
There definetly is better airflow, but I had to file some of the tenon hole, due to excess material. And the connection is much sturdier than the screw in ones. Those always worry me how they wobble.
Cool, thanks for the comparison shots! I assumed it was from my fingers but it's just a totally different color than the shank. Now I'm really intrigued. Gotta hold it a different way now.... Lol
