Every meer I've ever tried was a good smoker. 
I'm looking forward to seeing your updates, it will sure take a heavy beating this year. But the Altinays that I've seen on the forum have mostly colored nicely. That fresh pearly white color is fantastic.
Great looking Meer, I also like the size accept the bowl ID is a bit less than I prefer. Probably perfect for your one year journey though, you should be able to put a few more bowls through it.

4th bowl, and finally getting some flavor. Man how I hate breaking in meers. The first 3 bowls were horrendous. Showing pseudo coloring fast too. Pink is even showing through the inner lattice.
Oh and for the record, it's 27 degrees F, snowing and 11mph winds right now.

Nice little pipe. My thread documenting the coloring of a new meer came to a halt when I broke the tenon during my move.

@Ahi Ka : I have one Condor Plug I have to send off to a chum on the forum. After that one plug I have none left since I shipped my entire Gallagher stash to my late friend Weezell earlier this year and I am pretty sure he smoked his way through most of it. I doubt I will ever smoke that particular plug ever again.
I always imagine that stuff was minty for some reason. But now I'm thinking more ....cowpoo
