C&D knows what they're doing. In fact they're one of the only blenders right now that are stirring the pot and doing different things, which they've figured out is the best way to pay the bills. Everyone else is just resting on their laurels.
They would make more money if they sold by 2 oz tins. So from a biz perspective its pretty dumb. What small batch didn't eventually out? I got my Sun Bear bro and every other small batch I wanted. I know how the play game as good as anyone else. Yeah would I have like to try this one? Sure. But I simply don't want a pound. It's just to much for me to go through. I'm sure there are alot of guys in the same boat as me. That's it.If you didn't get any Sun Bear, you only have yourself to blame. Sorry. I could also make an argument that it is more important to satisfy the "big" customers. I'm guessing pipe tobacco follows the 80 20 rule where 20% of the customers represent 80% of the business. C&D runs a business, it's not a charitable organization.
Would they? More time, more packaging, etc. Regardless, they set the wholesale price to whatever they want it to be. I'm not for or against C&D, this blend, or their marketing, but they clearly understand the market in general and their business in particular. They would make more money if they sold by 2 oz tins. I think C&D should hire you to lead them down the path of enlightenment. They would make more money if they sold by 2 oz tins. So from a biz perspective its pretty dumb. I'll never know even if I buy a brick. Refer to my previous post.MSRP is $70 a pound - not bad actually if it's a good smoke
Confucius says even man with all the answers right twice a day.I think C&D should hire you to lead them down the path of enlightenment.
Ahhh ok. I guess. But polarizing? I thought it was just some fun banter. It’s just tobacco after all.I'll never know even if I buy a brick. Refer to my previous post.
Definitely. That sums it up!It’s just tobacco after all.
I'm super curious about the Kasturi as I haven't had it before. As you said, Jim's review put it up front, but then the copy seemed to downplay it's role. So... Dunno.I was interested until I saw in Jim’s review that the Kasturi is up front. I enjoy it as a background note only.
More for y’all. Enjoy.
It does not dominate, and the creamy sugar from the black cavendish tames most of its rough edges, and a moderate amount of the floralness. The Virginias are important supporting players, more so than in other blends with this varietal. I'd say Katsuri has less impact here than in any other blend that showcases it.I was interested until I saw in Jim’s review that the Katsuri is up front. I enjoy it as a background note only.

Nah. That all u!I think C&D should hire you to lead them down the path of enlightenment.
