I'm a bit late to the party, and didn't think my post warranted a whole new post on its own, but after a long arduous journey across the sea my brick turned up today.

I was wondering, what would he best for long term ageing - leaving it as a whole lump, or breaking it down into pieces?

I have a vague notion that smaller pieces would allow more air flow and therefore better ageing. All and any harebrained theories and speculation welcome ?

Smaller pieces in multiple jars won't expose the entire volume to drying out each time a jar is opened.

I've seen lots of talk about this blend online, but the price is too steep for me. I hope you all enjoy it. Maybe one day if it's in a tin!

Ha ha ha, tins cost way more than one pound bulk. Yo9u get way more tobacco from buying 1 pound at a time. I think that maybe you didn't mean cheaper, but just you wanted less tobacco.
Quite right, a pound of anything would be a long supply for me. But I might take a flutter on an ounce or two.

So, the initial stuff that’ve read so far bodes well for this blend. And, you’ve all had enough time to pick this blend apart, unless you jarred it up and stuck it in a drawer for later. What’s da verdict? ?☕

Funny, i never order less than ten tins or a pound of anything. The only times do do order less is when they put restrictions on how many I can have. Otherwise, why waste the tine and effort.

Of course it’s good. What else could a small batch be?
I mean, of you’ve run into one you hate, then you’d probably just as well not ever buy one.
I would merely avoid aromatic ones.

Well for me I’m a bowl a day at the most, often 3 bowls a week, so I do like a nice premium taste when I’m in, but a large quantity isn’t required.

And owing to my capricious tastes, I am always wanting something new so I am more liking of the tins.

But I’m interested in this special stuff and perhaps a bit will break off in my direction by trade one day :)

Maybe get together with a few friends and make a bulk and divide purchase. My pipe club does this on over $100 aged tins all the time.

8x2oz C&D Small Batch tins at $12 each is about $96. So, that savings is around a third which is about right for most larger quantities versus individual tins. Sometimes the saving of larger size bag is even higher versus tins.
