I don’t have many, but enjoy those I do. Life is too short to stick to all black stems!

The reality is that if you are smoking ANY pipe, everyone is going to look at you as if you have antlers coming out of your head. Only smoking billiards with black stems is not going to look more "normal" than a red pipe with a green stem. So, just enjoy whatever pipes crank your boats. But, if you only like billiards with black stems for your own aesthetic, then that's ok too.
But, it's also kinda fun to make fun of things too, as long as its all in good fun.

So, my comment is kinda pointless, ha ha. Unless of course we start throwing people with colored stems into concentration camps, then that sorta sucks.

Just don’t buff or clean your vulcanite stems… they’ll turn green eventually.

I like some of the colored stems. A stem that glows in the dark would be pretty dope too.

As far as I've noticed, it hasn't affected it much if at all. It's a fairly large chunk of lapis lazuli and acts as the pipe's mortise. As far as I can tell it's the only time Bruce Weaver did such a thing. Would love to have known what tempted him to try such a thing but the pipe was purchased after he passed. Knowing him though, he probably did it just to see if he could.?

I love that first poker, the stem color sides make it stand out more and matches the rusticated spots very nicely and the stain adds nice contrast. And that Moonshine yellow stem black wire rusticated is a great match up as well, that’s what made me get my Moonshine bent egg. I also like that brown swirl 320 style pipe, it’s similar to the Peterson Derry.

I love white stems on cobs or dark stained pipes. I think looks pretty classy.

I like colored stems even though I only have one. I might have two in the near future...I'm considering purchasing a Savinelli 2021 St. Nicholas.

There is a member here on the forum who had a pipe commissioned by Scottie Piersel. It was made in honor of a woman in his life with breast cancer (if my memory is correct) and it had a pink stem. It was a very nice looking pipe.

Black can be boring.

Well said Scott, and those St. Nicholas ones look pretty good.

A coloured stem can set off the right coloured bowl if done correctly, or it can look awful.

I have almost all black stems. It's the last part of a pipe I'd consider when buying one. Might get one some day. The only colored stems I have are those fake amber ones for meers. The one is ugly the other is great.

It was pure dumb luck on my part.

I had a Fantasia 111 on my mind for ages, went to buy bit online but saw the Miele at the last second (well you can't see them online in Australia actually, crazy government)

Will have to put the Fantasia off for Santa to get me ?

As it stands there is a 677 available from the same vendor, Alexanders Cigars in Melbourne, Australia...

You can imagine how tedious buying pipes from Online Tobacconist's is here.
