We all know that Peterson, Dr. Grabow, Comoys, and Nording put their pipes through a rigorous quality control process. One of these tests I'm sure is to test how they would withstand a burn out.

TEST #2

How will the metal/wood whatever finish take to being blasted by a heat gun for a few minutes?

After:

Result:

I'm going to say it didn't handle the heat very well. The bowl actually seems to be made of some sort of black plastic substance, even though it felt like metal.
Congrats, you revealed how they make their relief pipes!

I honestly expected the “briar” to at least be wood. Of some sort.

As was I, certainly not briar, but I was expecting something wood-like.

Well the final test is tomorrow and we can put this one to bed. I dare say, unless there is some surprise outcome tomorrow, we should not recommend these pipes.

Whatever I can do to help ?

Again, I really thought the pipe would be wood at least, then I could have done some other tests, but c'est la vie as they say.
Too bad!
Has the pipe a guarantee? If so you could complete the test series next year. I guess, smoking the recommended filamentous tobacco would have turned our fantasies into truth.

A good pipe is generally crafted from good briar. An aged piece of briar is strong enough to withstand the heat of the combustion process without warping or burning. While this pipe is unfortunately not a wooden pipe as advertised, how would it respond to repeated blows with a hammer?

TEST 3: How will the mystery bowl substance withstand repeated blows with a hammer?

Said hammer:

Before, from the more photogenic angle:

After: As you can see, after just 10 blows with the hammer the bowl shattered and revealed the inside. Also I'm not sure what the pipe was actually made out of, but there is no way I'd want to burn something in it.

Conclusion:

Turns out you can't get a handmade artisanal pipe from aliexpress for $8 to your door. I know this may ruffle a few feathers but you do get what you pay for ?
