I dont know how well it would make it through customs...Ive never tried but I bet in a padded envelope it would go through. Yes I get stuff through Estervals. Im not sure what Gitanes is but it doesnt come up on their search. Its French yes? Maybe they sell it in the normal Tobac shops.
Gitanes are a great, nostalgic cigarette. I wonder if the unfiltered ones still come in a soft packet, I used to love getting them when I went to France...

You used to be able to get in loose ryo packets too. There’s really nothing quite like it here in the UK, I can’t even get my once beloved Samson anymore. It’s why I quit cigs and stayed with the pipe. If I do get my hands on good quality cigarettes now I only smoke them very occasionally.

I was a Drum man myself, I missed that blue pouch when they brought in the plain packaging.

I like Triple Play.

I also like to reserve plugs for weekends or evening when I have time to prepare the smoke.
It is all part of the ritual.

I cut a slabbed off chunk of oak to make a block and on that I set my plug.
To cut I just use a devilishly sharp Japanese Nakiri kitchen knife that I got off ebay for a few bucks and put and new handle in made from a Kentucky Tobacco stick.... The thin flat blade is well suited for the job.

I also let them sit for a few minutes before rubbing them out and packing up.

That’s just it, the ritual is half the pleasure, I love it.

I found this old EKA Swedish pocket knife on the shelf in the basement. It was left by previous owners. Im sure it doesnt measure up for guys who are into knives but its high carbon steel and took a razor sharp edge with liittle effort.

Its my new Plug Knife. Makes quick work of dense plugs like Salty Dogs.

I think the whole prepping-plug fiasco is overblown. All you need is a Swiss Army Knife that you can keep adequately sharp (which is very easy to do) and the ability to hold a knife steady whilst making the cut. Keep the rest of your phalanges out of the direct cutting path and you'll be a-ok boys and girls👌.

Nice find, looks like a decent sturdy blade and you can’t beat carbon steel for taking an edge.

If you sharpen it with a real whetstone it'll slice through a Toyota Camry.

A few years ago I bought this lovely little Maserin briar wood gents knife. Never used it, I just bought it because I liked it.
It's got a beautiful edge you could shave your chin with. I think I've just found the perfect use for it: slicing plug. What better reason for stocking up on a few blocks.
I suppose I'll have to get a nice tweed waistcoat to carry it in as well. 😇

These knives are dandy, Gents!

I don't often smoke plug, but when I do, I use the spey blade on my Case trapper, which is my EDC.

My clip point I use for random stuff (boxes, whittling marshmallow sticks, EDC stuff), whereas my spey blade I reserve for food (typically apples) and plug tobacco.

Case "TruSharp" is a marketing gimmick -- it's 420HC.
No stainless will get as sharp as carbon, but 420HC gets a heckofalot closer than the 440s do. And it's a heckofalot tougher in lateral torquing than the 440s, too.

Oh heavens no. Every proper plug gent must have a dandy boy knife.
This one has shaved up probably 30 pounds of Dark Plug.
When and if I get serious about plug tobacco I’ll get a worthy knife.
