This is 2023. No matter what the tobacco is expect a cellar of less than 20 lbs.

How much are you asking for? In most cases, you'd be lucky to get seven pounds with $250.
I'd definitely have Newminster 400 and 403 in there.
I'd get as many bricks/bags of Sam Gawith as I could. FVF, Skiff. Actually that's it.
What's the preferred way to smoke something like those 403 "coins", do you rub them out, or I've heard of " stacking them...I've been very much interested in that blend.
3ish lbs of Match Victorian and 3ish lbs of Newminster Navy Flake and a few ounces if you must of some English blend.

I’d take a different approach if capped at $250. I’d probably buy a smattering of 1oz samples with the $50 and then use the $200 to stock up on my favorites. Taste is too subjective to rely on the opinions of others.

I figured since he was relatively new around here and exploring new tobaccos he might be considering doing this.
I think that was the amount of my last order and it was nothing special lol i would hate to actually try this, but then there are so many bulk blends out there and codger stuff and if you don't smoke a pipe very often .. well it would be a start lol
Question for you, then, @JRW11b and I suppose everyone else, for that matter. Are we considering “bulk” to be tobacco that comes in a bag vs. in a tin. Because if so…
Sutliff matches offer pretty good bang for the buck. Math Victorian, Troost match Revelation Match are favorites. C&D Yorktown is pretty good. Luxury Bullseye Flake is very good after about a 4 year wait.
Pretty much this, and I am considering doing this. Many of you have given me some great suggestions on a few of the previous threads I have posted, which have resulted in some very good acquisitions so far. Although I do completely understand taste is subjective, everyone is going to like different blends, etc. etc. I do start to notice patterns among several blends that people tend to suggest. This original post from 2020(?) I thought was pretty interesting and many of the folks who replied to the original thread don't appear to be very active on this forum as of recently. Thanks to all who have replied thus far.

I like @sasquatch suggestion, get you a good VA and a Balkan/English & you’re set. Those 2 are my favorite of their respective genres. Both Skiff & FVF age really well too.
$250 really isn’t a lot to build a cellar with but it’s a start and better than nothing.
