Given that this is an unknown blend, how do you determine who's who in this instance?
As you suggested elsewhere, confirmation bias will ensure that everyone who managed to buy some will think it's the bee's knees. Others will fall in. That's seems to be true of all the other small batches; the opinions range from good to oh-my-god and very few are negative. As far as I can tell, the only thing that can bring this party to a halt is mold or some kind of packing snafu.

Honestly, besides a few aromatics and lakelands, I really haven't ever smoked a tobacco that just repulses me. It's all of the fake topping crap that disgusts me. So, as long as it's not topped or heavily cased, I know I will like it.

You could just randomly mix whatever pure tobaccos together, and I know I would smoke it. I can't even imagine what a bad pure tobacco blend would be.

I'd like to think I'm objective. I've made bad tobacco buys before. The majority of the small batches have been mostly good. I didn't hate XX Dark Flake but I didn't love it either. No big deal, I traded what I had here for some blends I do like.

I've yet to see one of these small batch blends fall so flat on its face there were no fans willing to buy or trade for more. So to me, the risk of losing out on some great tobacco far outweighs the risk of getting stuck with a dog. And with Folklore, if it totally sucks, I'm out $67 when you include taxes. You don't have to be Bill Gates to be reasonably casual with $67.
