I have four brighams. The first one I got was a Voyager 123 I got it at a smoke shop that didn't sell that many pipes. They wanted $59 for it and I talked them down to $29. Since then I have gotten 3 more. As far as quality pipes go brigham is all you can get around where I live. There is a tobacco shop in town with some Pererson's but none of the shapes appeal to me and when I ask if they can order me a shape in a Peterson they never call me to let me know if they can get it so I will just keep getting Brigham's because they look and smoke good.
Oh ya also there is a corner store by my house that had brigham filters for $1.29 a box so I bought them all and I won't be needing to buy filters for a few years.

Fourty5seventy- Nice score! The local tobacconist here won't budge 1 cent on anything. I'm jealous of your good deals hahaha. What area do you live?

Kitchener Waterloo Ontario. I just placed a small order with 4noggins to see if the Canadian government hits me with duty on the tobacco. If all goes well I will order online for more stuff including a Peterson in a shape I like and a Brigham in a style that you can't find here. I know it sounds silly ordering a Canadian pipe from the USA but when the local B&M won't order what you want what other choice do you have?

Fourty- I'm guessing you know about Walper tobacco shop then eh? I got my brigham from there.
I got an order from Boswells and didn't get hit with duty. I made a smaller order fron pipesandcigars and got hit with duty.
Ive put about 10-15 smokes on a few filters, rotating them and rinsing them after each smoke, and they still look pretty good.

rd02sir I do know about the Walper. That's the place that never gets back to me about pipes that I enquirer about. And they should know that I'm serious about buying them because I have purchased allot of tobacco there and that runs about $25 per tin so a guy who goes in and drops $75 In a week on 3 Tina of tobacco should be good for a $150 pipe. How much duty did you have to pay on your Pipsandcigars order? Are you from KW?

Fourty- no I'm from Ottawa, just found walper's website and calledthe for an order. The thing is, they wanted $10 more than what was listed on their website. I asked why and they said price changes. So I said "what if I paid online" they said it wouldn't go through blah blah blah. I said fine, it's still cheaper than the places here so make the order. But that's the last I ordered from there. Maybe I'll make an online order and see if it works, if so, then maybe I'll get some new Brigham's in the future. But it is a real shame that as a Canadian, I have to go make an order through a USA compang to get the Canadian brand pipe that I want. I found that the person at Walper tobacco didn't know much at all on the pipes they had. Just an overall unpleasant experience. Which is a shame for the small market of pipes and tobacco, especially up in Canada.
I paid about $20 in duty. So in the end, it worked out to almost the same cost, including shipping and all. I am definitely going to be ordering from Boswells again, because of their friendly shipping methods. Also their blends are fairly inexpensive for the quality of tobacco and flavour.

I also am so glad you started this thread as I found I was the only one posting about my Brigham. I am fairly new to pipe smoking so I have 2 pipes and being Canadian, I also felt I should start with these pipes. I now have my eye on many more pipes, many of which are Petersons, but for now, I am very pleased with Brighams....
I have 2 Brighams and both of them are great. I have the Voyageur 147 and the Chinook 426. I use my Voyageur for my aromatics. The Mac Baren Vanilla flake smokes wonderfully on the Voyageur, one light per whole bowl usually. My Chinook is used for all my English/Latakia Blends and Virginia Blends as well. I just finished a bowl of Frog Morton On The Town in my Chinook a moment ago and it was great (once again). Thanks for the thread!

Wanted to bump this thread for a couple of reasons. Number one is to ask if anyone knows of any good place to watch for estate Brighams.
Number two is to show my little boy. This is my current one and only pipe and have had it for about a decade even though I didn't smoke it much in that time.

I must be a bad Canadian. I don't have any Brighams. I'm putting myself to bed without dinner until I smarten up and get some. Seriously though, they look like great pipes and I will look into them next time I can see one up close at a B&M and soon.

Nice Brig. mate. I have around 60 pipes and 5 are Brigs. I have a Brigham System Poker, a one dot, a 3 dot and a 4 dot. and a 2 dot prince shape(they called it Unfinished) They all smoke great. I rotate 8 filters and keep em clean by running them under hot water for a minute or so and letting them dry. Usually get about 30 smokes out of a filter. Brigs also smoke well without using the filter.

Yeah, this one in the pic is also an "unfinished" a.k.a. "sportsman" one. I like that style and wish they still made it. How do you thoroughly clean your stems? Alcohol? Soaking? Bristle pipe cleaners?
The Brighams on ebay seem so bad. Only 1-2 dots and usually just new ones, not many estates. =/

Nice pipe, Mick. Some of the ones on SmokingPipes look pretty nice. I'm not much for filters though, so I'd probably remove mine if I went ahead and bought a Brig...

I have quite a few Brighams, and they've always been among my favourites. I don't think I have any that are higher than a two-dot. To be honest, I pulled out the filters a few years ago. Reading this thread, I think I'm going to put a few back in and try it again. I remember liking the draw better without them, but as others have said here they're not really like the usual filters you'd see in a Grabow, for example.

Bulldog Mick:
There's this one guy on the Bay who seems to have more Brighams than anybody else. I think he's based out of Ontario and does most of his business in Canadian estates. I've purchased several pipes and filter packs from him even though the international shipping charges takes my breath away.
I'll dig up his nick and shoot you a PM.
I've got a two dot Brigham that's beautifully rusticated but I have smoked it sparingly in the past due to the cost of the filters and their general lack of availability. But, I think I've found an affordable stateside supplier at the KC Pipe Show.

I have recently started with pipe smoking, actually, about 6 hours ago!!
For my first pipe, I chose a Brigham Voyageur. I figured it would be a decent quality briar pipe, the filter system sounded like it would help a new pipe smoker with moisture, and being from Canada, I could do a little flag waving.
Got my pipe from Walper Tobacco Shop. Seemed like the closest decent place to go near me, in Brantford.
