Didn't think about this. Put it off as Dunhill crap. But now think about it, with hallmarks, I can possibly find Peterson pipe close enough to my birthday year.

You can try putting in the year and other variables on flebay but make sure you have detailed pictures of stamping then do a little research because more often than not ppl selling pipes on eBay don’t know diddly7nless it’s one of the few respected sellers.
I've got a Peterson Mark Twain and a Stanwell Tom Eltang designed birth year pipe. They just so happened to already be my favorite shape from each of those makes so finding a birth year of each was a nice score
If you search the auction site for smoking pipes and the year, you will often get Dunhills. Because Dunhill are easy to date and are usually posted with the year in the title. 1980s and forward you will also see Ashton’s that are date stamped. There are others.
A birth year pipe never interested me much until I got to thinking about a Dunhill. But 1947 Dunhill's are fairly rare and rather expensive. And usually, they're straight and I generally prefer things with a slight bend in them.
Got my 77 Dunhill shell from mkelaw. Went on the hunt for the BY pipe because when I joined this place 8 yrs ago it was all the rage. It's a fantastic smoker and in great shape. 
I was born in '68 and I also feel that it was an un-eventful year.The flip side is that a lot of things sucked for those of us born in 1980 -- cars, guitars, amps, appliances, etc. Tail end of the malaise era.
I did however get a nice Dunhill 196 birth-year, which I managed to drop and break the tenon of.
I bought a pipe made from Morta. I figured that ought to cover the age of everyone here! (even you Bradley) 
1968 uneventful? Wars,riots, assassinations, elections? Yeah, nothing much.
I checked with Marty Pulver who had a 1949 Dunhill shell listed as pending and asked him to contact me if the deal fell thru. He happened to have another he hadn't posted yet, so that's how I got mine.
I have a 1989 Peterson Donegal Rocky which the Brobs gave me. Love that pipe. Great decade for rusticated Petes. My passion however is antique pipes and I have found one from 1889 which I am head over heels with, though can’t justify the price tag.
I'm probably going to light up a couple of birth year Dunhills this coming weekend. They're estates, but, it'll be my first time smoking them.
