Army Mount

I prefer army or spigot mounts myself. Peterson and Chacom both make quite good ones, IMO. I have two Chacom Army pipes that have been going strong since '05-ish with no issues.

I've got almost a dozen Peterson army mounts as well as a spigot and a few standard system pipes. Most of them have been estates that I got for pretty decent prices but a couple of the army mounts I bought new. Obviously I'm a big fan, they all get smoked often.

All my pipes in my regular rotation are Peterson. There are some army, spigot, and system. They are ones that take least amount of effort to break down and clean while smoking. I disassemble my pipes while smoking all the time, but non-army/spigot/system pipes take little extra care when twisting the stem in/out.

As many others have stated, Peterson system standard or Peterson Irish army is the answer.

Peterson Derry has Army stems. Mine is 3\4 bent, a great smoker and passes a cleaner without issue

Heres my one and only army mount. A Morgan pipes Blackjack. Just looked and sadly it appears this style is not available currently

BTW, my last has the fishtail acrylic stem. I thought it might not have the “grip” that the vulcanite p-lip has, but it stays in very well. It’s acrylic fishtail all the way from now on. My 313 std system is a short smoke and probably would meet your mil-sim situation.

Agreed. I have an easier time clenching one than a regular stem. It's not as... slidey

Remember the rule: "three lights from a match". In WW1, the idea was that anything beyond three guys lighting up was that the Bosch sniper could draw a bead and take you out in that amount of time!

That is a great looking pipe - I don't think I have seen another Morgan like that. ( He makes all the "bones" pipes right?)

No offense to Italian and French members, but Castello being an Italian pipes, I don't know how much they know anything about Army. But I'm sure they are much better than French.
