I really liked Alec Baldwin in Team America. I thought he did his best work opposite Kim Jung Il.

Alec is a really talented actor, able to "do" multi-faceted characters with a lot of feeling and subtlety. Like many celebs he has a somewhat runaway ego and often shows his weakness, vulnerability, and somewhat horrible side. On his short-lived interview show, I saw him interview some interesting film makers who were too soft-spoken, such that Alec launched into a lecture and answered the questions himself that he had addressed to them. I sat there dumbfounded. Few can do well with the glare of celebrity. The spotlight launches you into the stratosphere then drags you into the depths. People aren't the gods that celebrity invites them to pretend they are. When celebrities emerge, I wonder -- how will this person lead a life, have a spouse, have privacy, maintain their balance. Many/most don't.
