4noggins has been selling consigned tins and bags for a long time. I used them in 2012 to sell a bunch of tins and they got me top dollar. For some people, 175.00 for a bag of something they like is short money.

But it's okay and he's not a greedy, evil enemy of the lead flipper because they have a legit website. :D

Yep, as stated, 4 Noggins has always had a consignment feature on their webpage. I see there's some SH and Penz on there now, a tad high but it'll sell. I do like that there's a limit per bag purchase at times. I buy from there often.
I think it would be a bit tempting (as a retailer) to hang on to the new ET shipments when they come in and later sell them "on consignment." But no different than the guy on the street who scarfs bags up for 40 bucks a bag (online) then pops them on ebay for $160-200 plus. Supply, demand. Plus "Hoard and Flip" is alive and well.
Personally, I don't mind paying more for blends I like. I don't have all day to be watching online and calling every vendor in the states to see when shipments come in, so I dish out the big bucks to avoid the hunt. IMO, Penzance is still the best damn tobacco on the market. I feel better if I compare it to Cuban cigars.

Lazar, the guy is running a business. His job is to get as much as he can for his clients and not leave money on the table.
Yeah, I was joking - just making the same point that kola did. People often get so up in arms about ebay flippers, but don't seem to mind 4noggins or pipestud doing the exact same thing.

When was the last time someone saw Stonehaven or Penzance for sale at 4noggins through their regular sale channel?

Exactly Peck. A year ago I purchased a bag of c2012 Stonehaven and the code on the bag was the same as the new released bags. I called Rich to see what the deal was and he said there was no way to determine production date from the code. He took it back but I ate the shipping both ways. I think he was dishonest and I told him that.

The last owner of 4noggins, Rich, confessed to me that he called his "preferred customers" personally to offer them the premium "Penzances" and the like, so they never made it to us lowly types. I took that personally and chose to take my business elsewhere after that. But I did get in on the HH sale last week with the new guy.

Jesse, I did set the prices for the tins I wanted to sell. I did speak with Rich and we talked about what he thought I might get but it was up to me in the end. I priced my 2002 tins of Murray made Dunhill at 65.00 a tin and they sold fairly quickly. I was happy as I paid only 5 bucks a tin from Jrcigars back then.
I have bought bags of Stonehaven from 4noggins and none were listed on his site. He would email me when he got some in. I didn't pester him and I spent a good amount of money with them. He was a great source for many of my favorite Wessex blends. I have used them quite a bit recently for Butera and other harder to find blends.
edit. I paid around 35 bucks a bag for the Stonehaven, no additional mark up.

4Noggins doesn't list Penzanace or Stonehaven when it comes in. Either they notify you or you have to call and hope the timing is right. While I understand that it can be frustrating to many, taking care of your best customers makes good business sense. I have a couple of B&M's from which I can buy unobtainium because it's not, even remotely, the only tobacco that I buy from them. What they're not interested in are cherrypickers who only buy Esoterica and nothing else.

I have no intention of ever chasing Esoterica down. I don't want to be one of "those" people. But it would be nice to try it once to see what all the hype is about.

And from what I hear, it's mostly overrated anyways. So why chase when there is plenty of good tobacco readily available with a few clicks....
